The NFL season is well underway, and there are already some clear leaders in the rushing yards category. Who’s in the lead so far?
Ezekiel Elliot
With 1,074 yards on the season, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot is leading the NFL in rushing yards. The second-year player from Ohio State is on pace to break the single-season franchise rushing record, held by Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith.

Elliot has thus far proven to be one of the most talented and productive running backs in recent years, and it seems likely that he will continue to be one of the best players at his position for years to come.

Saquon Barkley is a name you’re going to be hearing a lot more of in the coming years. The young running back out of Penn State is already making a big splash in the NFL. In his rookie season, he’s already leading the league in rushing yards. Let’s take a look at some of his other accomplishments.

In only his second season in the NFL, Barkley is impressing everyone with his skill on the field. So far this season, he has rushed for 1,198 yards and eight touchdowns. He is also a threat in the passing game, with 52 catches for 414 yards and two touchdowns. Barkley is currently leading the NFL in rushing yards, and he is on pace to have one of the best seasons by a running back in recent memory. If he continues to play at this high level, Barkley has a chance to become one of the best players in the NFL.
