AFC

The Baltimore Ravens are the only team to have clinched a playoff berth thus far. They have done so by virtue of their Week 16 victory over the Cleveland Browns, which clinched the AFC North division title. The Ravens are currently the No. 1 seed in the AFC. The New England Patriots have clinched a first-round bye and are the No. 2 seed.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Steelers compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) North division. Founded in 1933, the Steelers are the oldest franchise in the AFC.

In contrast with their status as perennial also-rans in the pre-merger NFL, where they were the oldest team never to win a league championship, the Steelers of the post-merger (modern) era are one of the most successful NFL franchises. Since the 1970 AFL–NFL merger, they have posted more winnings seasons (39) than any other franchise. As of 2020, they have an NFL record six Super Bowl victories—tied with New England for most among active franchises; they are behind only to Green Bay’s 13 titles—and have reached eight AFC Championships, most recently in 2019. They have played in more conference championship games than any other team since 1970. They currently play their home games at Heinz Field on Pittsburgh’s North Side in the North Shore neighborhood, which also hosts FedExField, home to Washington.

Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are a professional American football team based in Houston, Texas. The Texans compete in the National Football League as a member club of the American Football Conference South division. The team plays its home games at NRG Stadium, an outdoor stadium in Houston; Reliant Stadium hosted the Texans for two seasons while NRG Stadium was constructed.

Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team that compete in the National Football League (NFL). The Rams franchise was founded in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams in the short-lived second American Football League (AFL) before joining the NFL the next year. In 1946, the franchise moved to Los Angeles. The Rams franchise remained in the metro area until 1994, when they moved to St. Louis. The Rams franchise returned to Los Angeles in 2016.

The Rams play their home games at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The Rams are currently coached by Sean McVay and have been led by three-time NFL MVP quarterback Jared Goff since 2016.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints currently compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The team was founded by John W. Mecom Jr., David Dixon, and the city of New Orleans on November 1, 1966. The Saints began play in Tulane Stadium in 1967.

The name “Saints” is an allusion to November 1 being All Saints Day in the Catholic faith, as well as to the want-to-be perfect baseball team in One Foot in the Grave, a British television series. The franchise was founded on November 1, 1966. The team’s primary colors are old gold and black; their logo depicts a simplified fleur-de-lis. They played their home games in Tulane Stadium through the 1974 NFL season.

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team based in Chicago, Illinois. They are members of the National Football Conference (NFC) North division in the National Football League (NFL). The Bears compete in the NFL as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) North division. The Bears have won nine NFL Championships, including one Super Bowl, and hold the NFL record for the most enshrinees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the most retired jersey numbers. The Bears have also recorded more victories than any other NFL franchise.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Cowboys compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) East division. They are one of the most successful teams in the history of the NFL, having appeared in eight Super Bowls, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos for second most, and winning five of them, all five appearances coming between 1970 and 1995.
