Who’s Still in the NFL Playoffs?

The NFL Playoffs are down to the final four teams. Who’s still in the running for a spot in the Super Bowl?

AFC

The AFC playoff picture is starting to take shape. The New England Patriots have clinched the top seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Kansas City Chiefs have also clinched playoff berths. The Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens are battling for the final spot.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are a professional American football team based in Baltimore, Maryland. They are members of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The Ravens were established in 1996, when Art Modell, the owner of the Cleveland Browns, announced plans to relocate the franchise to Baltimore.

The Ravens have appeared in four AFC Championship Games (2000, 2008, 2012, and 2019), winning two (2000 and 2012). They have also advanced to the playoffs ten times since their 2000 Super Bowl victory, winning six division titles (2003, 2006, 2011, 2012, 2018, and 2019) and three conference championships (2000, 2008, and 2012). The team currently holds the record for most wins (including playoffs) in a 10-year period.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are a professional American football team based in the Buffalo–Niagara Falls metropolitan area. They compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at New Era Field in Orchard Park, New York. The Bills are the only NFL team that plays its home games in the state of New York. The Bills conduct summer training camp at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, New York, an eastern suburb of Rochester.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team was founded in 1960 as the Dallas Texans by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the American Football League (AFL). In 1963, the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed their current name. The Chiefs joined the NFL as a result of the merger in 1970. The team is valued at over $2 billion. Hunt’s son, Clark, serves as chairman and CEO.

The head coach is Andy Reid, who has led the team to four AFC Championship Games (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), winning two (2019, 2020). The team plays its home games at Arrowhead Stadium, which serves as one of the largest stadiums in both the NFL and in all of professional sports in general, holding up to 76,416 fans at full capacity.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is located 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston.

NFC

The National Football Conference (NFC) playoffs are underway, with the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers leading the pack. Who will make it to the Super Bowl? We’ll have to wait and see.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are a professional American football team based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The Cowboys compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) East division. They are one of the most valuable sports franchises in the world, and the highest-valued NFL franchise by estimated market value at $5.06 billion.

Green Bay Packers

As of right now, the Green Bay Packers are still in the NFL playoffs. They are currently the number 2 seed in the NFC. They have a bye week in the first round and will play either the Minnesota Vikings or the New Orleans Saints in the second round.

Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team that compete in the National Football League (NFL). The Rams franchise was founded in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams in the short-lived second American Football League before joining the NFL the next year. In 1946, the franchise moved to Los Angeles. The Rams franchise remained in the metro area until 1994, when they moved to Anaheim Stadium in Orange County, California. The Rams franchise returned to Los Angeles in 2016, relocating again to Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

The Rams franchise has won three NFL championships, and is the only one to win championships representing three different cities (Cleveland in 1945, Los Angeles in 1951, and St. Louis in 1999). They have been to ten NFL Championship games, winning seven of them. Therams have appeared in more than a dozen pro bowl games and won four of them.

New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints currently compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division.

The Saints were established as an NFL expansion team in 1967. The franchise began play in Tulane Stadium in 1968. The name “Saints” is an allusion to November 1 being All Saints Day in the Catholic faith, or, more specifically, to the spiritual “When the Saints Go Marching In”.

The team’s primary colors are old gold and black; their logo depicts a saint wearing a peaked cap adorned with a gold Fleur-de-lis. They played their home games in Tulane Stadium through the 1974 NFL season. The following year, they began playing their home games in the newly constructed Louisiana Superdome (now named the Mercedes-Benz Superdome).

Super Bowl LIII

The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams will face off in Super Bowl LIII on Sunday, February 3. The Rams are back in the big game for the first time since 2002, when they lost to the Patriots. The Pats are looking to win their sixth Super Bowl in franchise history.

Matchups

In the AFC, the top-seeded Patriots will host the sixth-seeded Chargers, while the second-seeded Chiefs will host the fifth-seeded Colts. In the NFC, the top-seeded Rams will host the sixth-seeded Cowboys, while the second-seeded Saints will host the fifth-seeded Eagles.

Predictions

The New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams are set to face off in Super Bowl LIII on Sunday, February 3.

This will be the ninth Super Bowl appearance for the Patriots, who are looking to tie the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Lombardi trophies in NFL history with six. The Patriots are led by quarterback Tom Brady, who is widely considered to be the greatest of all time.

The Rams, meanwhile, are making their first appearance in the Super Bowl since 2002, when they were based in St. Louis. The Rams are led by quarterback Jared Goff and running back Todd Gurley II.

The betting odds have the Patriots as slight favorites to win, but anything can happen on game day. Who do you think will come out on top?
