Russell Westbrook

When it comes to the best point guard in the NBA, there are several names that come to mind. However, there is one player who stands out above the rest, and that is Russell Westbrook. Westbrook is a dynamic player who can do it all on the court. He is a great scorer, passer, and defender. Westbrook is also a very explosive player and is always looking to make a big play.

Averaging a triple double

In the 2016-2017 NBA season, Russell Westbrook became the first player since Oscar Robertson in 1961-1962 to average a triple double over the course of an entire season. He averaged 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 10.4 assists per game. Westbrook also set the record for most triple doubles in a single season with 42.

2017 MVP

In his eighth season, Westbrook averaged a triple-double for the entire season, something that hasn’t been done since Oscar Robertson in 1961-1962.
He is the first player in NBA history to average a triple-double for an entire season and he did it in style, leading the Thunder to the playoffs despite being minus two All-Stars in Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka.
He set a new record for triple-doubles in a season with 42 and his 1060 points, 1087 assists and 1007 rebounds placed him in some elite company as just the second player ever to achieve those numbers in a season.
He also became just the fifth player in NBA history to average a 30-point triple-double over the course of a season. The list of MVPs he joined is impressive – Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson.

He is a nine-time All-Star, and he has been named the league’s Most Valuable Player once. He is also a two-time Olympic gold medalist, winning back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2016.

He has also won two gold medals as a member of the USA Basketball team, winning FIBA World Cup titles in 2014 and 2016.
