Who’s the Best Tight End in the NFL?

Check out my list of the best tight ends in the NFL today. This list includes players like Rob Gronkowski and Travis Kelce.

Introduction

There is no one definitive answer to this question. Individual preferences, playing style, and team needs all play a role in who is considered the best tight end in the NFL. Nevertheless, there are a few tight ends who stand out above the rest and are considered by many to be the best at their position.

George Kittle

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is widely considered the best tight end in the NFL. He’s a two-time Pro Bowl selection and was named first-team All-Pro in 2019 after setting the NFL record for most receiving yards in a season by a tight end with 1,377.

Kittle is an outstanding all-around player. He’s an excellent blocker and is a threat to catch passes downfield. He’s also a dangerous runner after the catch and has even thrown two touchdown passes in his young career.

There’s no tight end in the NFL who can do everything that Kittle can. He’s the total package and is one of the best players in the league, period.

Travis Kelce

Kelce has been one of the best tight ends in the NFL over the past few seasons. He’s a big target at 6’6″, and he’s a great receiver, averaging over 1,000 yards over the past three seasons. He’s also a good blocker, and he’s helped the Chiefs offense become one of the best in the league.

Darren Waller

Darren Waller is a tight end for the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Georgia Tech, and was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Zach Ertz

There is no definitive answer to this question as it is subjective and opinions will vary. However, Zach Ertz of the Philadelphia Eagles is widely considered to be one of the best tight ends in the NFL. Ertz has been named to the Pro Bowl three times and was named First-team All-Pro in 2017. He has also set the NFL record for most catches by a tight end in a season (116).

Conclusion

After looking at the data, it is clear that there is no one “best” tight end in the NFL. The position is much too complex and varied to be accurately compared in this way. Each player has unique strengths and weaknesses that make them better or worse in different situations.

What we can say, however, is that there are a few tight ends who stand out as being among the best in the league. Travis Kelce, Zach Ertz, and George Kittle are all great players who have had immense success in recent years. If you are looking for a tight end to build your team around, any of these three would be a great choice.
