Who’s the Worst NFL Team?

We’re ranking the worst NFL teams of all time. From the Lions to the Browns, these are the franchises that have been the biggest letdowns in NFL history.

The Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns are the worst NFL team. This is because they have the worst record in the NFL, they have never won a Super Bowl, and they have never had a winning season.

Their record

The Cleveland Browns are a professional American football team based in Cleveland, Ohio. The Browns compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The Browns play their home games at FirstEnergy Stadium, which opened in 1999, with administrative offices and training facilities in Berea, Ohio. The Browns’ official colors are brown, orange, and white. They are unique among the 32 member franchises of the NFL in that they do not have a logo on their helmets and are the only team named after a specific person, original coach Paul Brown.

The franchise was founded in 1945 by businessman Arthur B. McBride and coach Paul Brown as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). The Browns dominated the AAFC, compiling a 47–4–3 record in its four seasons under Brown. When the AAFC folded after the 1949 season, the Browns joined the National Football League along with three other AAFC teams: the San Francisco 49ers, the original Baltimore Colts, and the burst Cleveland Rams.

The Browns won a championship in their inaugural NFL season resulting from their league-leading offense

Their recent draft picks

In the past five years, the Browns have drafted two quarterbacks in the first round. In 2016, they tookCody Kessler. In 2018, they took Baker Mayfield. Cleveland also used a first-round pick on running back Trent Richardson in 2012. And that’s it. That’s their recent first-round draft history.

The San Francisco 49ers

Their record

As of the 2019 season, the San Francisco 49ers have an all-time regular season record of 570–402–28, for a winning percentage of .583. In the playoffs, they have an additional record of 23–20.

Their recent draft picks

The San Francisco 49ers are having one of the worst seasons in NFL history, and their recent draft picks are a big reason why.

In the past few years, the 49ers have drafted players like Reuben Foster, Solomon Thomas, and C.J. Beathard, who have all been huge disappointments.

Foster was a highly touted linebacker out of Alabama, but he has been plagued by injuries and suspensions, and has only played in eight games over two seasons.

Thomas was the third overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, but he has been a bust thus far, totaling just two sacks in two years.

Beathard was drafted in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, but he has been terrible when he’s played, throwing for just six touchdowns and seven interceptions in 14 career games.

The 49ers are a mess right now, and their recent draft picks are a big reason why.

The New York Jets

The New York Jets are currently the worst NFL team. They have a record of 0-12 and are not looking likely to win any of their remaining games. Jets fans are rightfully frustrated with the team’s performance this season. The Jets have been plagued by injuries, bad coaching, and poor player personnel decisions. Let’s take a look at how the Jets got to this point.

Their record

The New York Jets are a professional American football team located in the New York metropolitan area. The Jets compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team is headquartered in Florham Park, New Jersey. In a unique arrangement for the league, the Jets share MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey with the New York Giants. The franchise is legally and corporately registered as New York Jets, LLC.

The team was founded in 1959 as the Titans of New York, an original member of the American Football League (AFL); later, the franchise joined the NFL in the AFL–NFL merger in 1970. The team began to play in 1960 at the Polo Grounds. Under new ownership, the current name was adopted in 1963 and the franchise moved to Shea Stadium in 1964 and then to Giant Stadium in 1984. The team reached their only Super Bowl appearance following the 1968 season.Since 1968, they have appeared in just one more playoff game, during the 2010 season, which was coincidentally their only winning season since then. However, they did make it back to playing .500 ball for three seasons from 1985-1987 under Head Coach Joe Walton. From 1988-1997 and again from 2006-2014 they were coached by Rich Kotite and then Bill Parcells for three seasons from 1997-1999. In 2000 John Harbaugh took over for Al Groh for just one season before Herm Edwards took over from 2001-2005; Edwards then led them to back-to-back playoff appearances after long droughts of not making it at all (1998–2005) or having only one appearance (1981). Eric Mangini was hired as head coach after Belichick’s firing but was fired himself after three seasons and a record of 23–25 (.479). Rex Ryan was hired as his replacement and he led them to consecutive AFC Championship game appearances during his first two years but the team never made it to a Super Bowl during his tenure; Ryan was fired after six seasons with a record of 4–12 (.250). Todd Bowles is currently head coach since 2015; he has one playoff appearance with them so far during his tenure which came after his second year with an 10–6 record .

The Jets have had some success throughout their history but haven’t won a championship since 1968 despite appearing multiple times since then including Super Bowl III where they infamously lost 16-7 to the Baltimore Colts despite being 18 point underdogs going into it, becoming one of only two teams ever to be favored by that much going into a Super Bowl along with Super Bowl XXI where they lost 39-20 to Eli Manning’s Giants; this particular defeat is considered by many experts and fans alike as not just one of if not their biggest choke job/collapse ever but also arguably one boogie man type moment that has prevented/stuck with them ever since much like what happened to Buffalo Bills with their four straight losses in AFC Championship game from 1990-1993 which many experts and fans have dubbed “Wide Right” because Scott Norwood missed what would’ve been winning field goal against New York Giants late in 1991 AFC Championship game which resulted into Bills’ loss 20-19; many fans believe that this particular loss still haunts/prevented Bills from winning a championship ever since(to make matters worse Norwood later went on record stating that he still thinks about what could’ve been had that field goal went through every single day even until this day).

Jets have notoriously been labeled by experts, fans and journalists alike as one most unsuccessful/disappointing franchises ever despite having some success throughout their history due largely part because of aforementioned blown/collapses opportunities particularly against Buffalo Bills along with being unable also due retire any player’s uniform number yet despite having some great players donning Green & White such Hall of Famers like Joe Namath(#12), Curtis Martin(#28),Keyshawn Johnson(#19),Don Maynard(#13)&Weeb Ewbank(Head Coach)and All Pros like Mark Gastineau & Derrick Coleman whileActive Players like Darrelle Revis & Brandon Marshall have worn those numbers at some point during their career with Jets although neither player spend significant amount time while playing those numbers with Jets before being traded/released respectively; It wasn’t until 2019 jets retired number 74 which belonged to defensive end Dennis Byrd who tragically died due car accident couple years after retiring from football & become motivation behind team making it all way to AFC Championship game that same year although they would go onto lose 24-17 against eventual champions Denver Broncos who featured future hall of famers like John Elway & Shannon Sharpe on their roster while jets featured Neil O’Donnell & Keyshawn Johnson on theirs.

Their recent draft picks

The New York Jets have been a laughing stock ever since they drafted Christian Hackenberg in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Hackenberg was considered one of the biggest draft busts in recent memory, as he never started a game for the Jets and was eventually cut from the team.

Other recent draft picks haven’t fared much better, as the Jets have failed to find a franchise quarterback or any other impact players. This has led to the Jets being considered one of the worst teams in the NFL, as they haven’t had a winning season since 2015.
