As of May 11, 2020, the current WWE World Champion is Roman Reigns. The title was most recently held by Brock Lesnar, who won it at WrestleMania 34 on April 8, 2018. However, Lesnar vacated the title on April 7, 2019, due to his inability to defend it within the required timeframe. As a result, a tournament was held at Extreme Rules on July 14, 2019, to crown a new champion, which was ultimately won by Reigns.

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship is a world heavyweight championship created and promoted by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE on the SmackDown brand. It is one of two world titles in the WWE, alongside the WWE Universal Championship that was created for the Raw brand as a result of the 2016 WWE draft. The current champion is AJ Styles, who is in his second reign.

The Rock was born in Hayward, California, on May 2, 1972. He is of Black Nova Scotian and Samoan descent. He was raised in a family of wrestlers and his father, Rocky Johnson, was a world champion wrestler in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). His grandfather, Peter Maivia, was also a wrestler.

The Rock began his wrestling career in the WWF in 1996. He quickly rose to prominence and became one of the most popular wrestlers in the company. In 1998, he won the WWF Championship and became the youngest champion in history at the age of 26. He held the title for nearly a year before losing it to Mankind in 1999.

The Rock continued to be a major player in the WWF/WWE throughout the early 2000s. In 2000, he won the Royal Rumble match and went on to headline WrestleMania 2000, where he defeated Triple H and The Big Show to win the WWE Championship. He held the title for several months before losing it to Kurt Angle at No Way Out 2001.

In 2002, The Rock took a hiatus from wrestling to focus on his acting career. He made his return to WWE in 2011 and has been appearing sporadically since then. In February 2013, he won the WWE Championship for a record eighth time at Elimination Chamber 2013.

Brock Lesnar

Brock Edward Lesnar (/ˈlɛznər/; born July 12, 1977) is an American professional wrestler and former mixed martial artist, currently signed to WWE. He is a four-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion (having held the title twice in his first spell with the company and twice in his current spell), a one-time WWE United States Champion, a one-time Intercontinental Champion, a one-time WWE Tag Team Champion (with Seth Rollins), the 2002 King of the Ring, the third Grand Slam Champion in WWE history, and the youngest WWE Champion in history at the age of 25.

Lesnar entered MMA with no previous training and defeated his first opponent, who had an undefeated record of 3–0 at that point. He then joined UFC and beat Randy Couture for their heavyweight championship at UFC 91. Lesnar successfully defended his title against Frank Mir at UFC 100 before losing it to Cain Velasquez at UFC 121. In early 2012, Lesnar retired from MMA competition due to ongoing health issues with diverticulitis. In April 2012, Brock Lesnar returned to WWE after an eight-year absence, defeating John Cena at Extreme Rules to become the WWE Undisputed Champion and making him only the second person (after Hulk Hogan) to have held both the UFC Heavyweight Championship and WWE’s world heavyweight championship.

As of June 20, 2019, the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion is Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns is an American professional wrestler and former professional gridiron football player. He is signed to WWE under the ring name Roman Reigns.
