Who’s Winning the NFL Games?
Contents
Football is back and we’re here to break down who’s winning the NFL games!
The teams
The NFL games are in full swing and some teams are winning more than others. The New England Patriots are one of the top teams so far. They have won all their games and are looking like they will continue their winning streak. The Los Angeles Rams are also doing well, but they have lost one game.
The Patriots
The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is located 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston.
The Patriots are also headquartered at Gillette Stadium. An ownership group led by Robert Kraft has owned the team since 1994. The team was founded as the Boston Patriots in 1959 as a charter member of the American Football League (AFL), and played their home games at Harvard Stadium and Fenway Park before moving to Foxborough in 1971. The patriots joined the NFL in 1970 after the AFL–NFL merger and changed their name to reflect that fact.
From 2001 to 2008, the Patriots set an NFL record for most consecutive wins in regular season play with 21, an accomplishment matched only once since – by Peyton Manning’s Indianapolis Colts in 2009 – while adding an additional eight-win streak including Super Bowl XXXVIII for a total of 29 consecutive wins between 2003 and 2004. During that span, they won three Super Bowls and two conference championships. As of 2017, they have appeared in ten Super Bowls, winning five of them: Super Bowl XXXVI (2001 season), Super Bowl XXXVIII (2003 season), Super Bowl XLIX (2014 season), Super Bowl LI (2016 season), and Super Bowl LIII (2018 season).
The Rams
The Rams are currently leading the NFL with a 12-1 record. They have won their last eight games and are currently on a bye week. The Rams offense is led by quarterback Jared Goff, who has thrown for 3,465 yards and 30 touchdowns. Running back Todd Gurley has also been a key cog in the offensive machine, rushing for 1,226 yards and 17 touchdowns. Defensively, the Rams have been just as dominant, giving up an average of only 17 points per game. Led by All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald, the Rams defense has been relentless, racking up 41 sacks and 18 interceptions. With home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, the Rams look like favorites to win it all this year.
The Saints
The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints currently compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The team was founded by John W. Mecom Jr., David Dixon, and the city of New Orleans on November 1, 1966. The Saints began play in Tulane Stadium in 1967.
The name “Saints” is an allusion to November 1 being All Saints Day in the Catholic faith, as well as to the history of New Orleans—particularly its role as a major port during the nineteenth century. The team’s primary colors are old gold and black; their logo is a simplified fleur-de-lis. They played their home games in Tulane Stadium through the 1974 NFL season. The following year, they moved to the new Louisiana Superdome (now Mercedes-Benz Superdome).
For most of their first 20 years, the Saints were barely competitive, only getting to .500 twice. In 1987, they finished 12–3—their first-ever winning season—and qualified for the NFL playoffs for the first time in franchise history, but lost to the Minnesota Vikings 44–10 in the Wild Card round. In 2009, they defeated NFC South rival Tampa Bay 31–17 to win their first division championship since 2000 and returned to “ Who Dat?”
The players
The players are the ones who are really winning the NFL games. They are the ones who are out there giving it their all on the field and making plays. They are the ones who are risking their bodies and their careers every time they step on the field. So, while the fans may be the ones who are cheering them on from the stands, it is the players who are really winning the games.
Tom Brady
Tom Brady is an American football quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). He is one of only two players to have won five Super Bowls (the other being defensive end Charles Haley), and he is the only player to have won them all playing for one team. Brady has also been selected to 14 Pro Bowls, more than any other player in NFL history.
Brady made his NFL debut in 2000 after being drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of that year’s NFL Draft. In his first season as starting quarterback, Brady took the Patriots to their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history. He subsequently led them to victories in Super Bowls XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, and LI, while earning MVP honors four times. During that span, he set numerous records en route to helping the Patriots establish themselves as one of the most successful teams in NFL history.
Jared Goff
Jared Goff is an American football quarterback who is currently playing for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Rams with the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Prior to his professional career, he played college football for the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a two-time All-Pac-12 quarterback.
Drew Brees
Drew Brees is an American football quarterback for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League (NFL). He had a prolific college football career at Purdue University, where he was a two-time consensus All-American and notable quarterback.
The fans
New England
New England Patriots fans are some of the most fervent in the NFL. Rooted in Boston, the Pats have a large and dedicated following throughout New England and beyond. Thanks to their team’s recent success, Patriots fans are used to winning — and they expect nothing less from their team this season.
Los Angeles
Although the Rams have not been to the Super Bowl in a very long time, the fans continue to show their support. The team has a strong fan base in Los Angeles and the surrounding area.
New Orleans
The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints currently compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division.

The Saints have won one Super Bowl (XIV),[5] which was preceded by three conference championships and four division championships. They have also won five NFC South titles since the division’s creation in 2002. The Saints have twenty-four members in their Hall of Fame.[6]
