On the October 12 episode of Raw, Strowman was defeated by Reigns in an “Ambulance Match” after interference from Lesnar, who attacked Strowman with multiple steel chairs. This led to a angle where it was teased that Strowman had suffered a “broken monstership”, which was later revealed to be storyline only. On the October 31 episode of SmackDown, it was announced that due to the (storyline) injuries he suffered at Hell in a Cell, Strowman would be sidelined for six to eight weeks. On the November 6 episode of Raw, after Reigns reclaimed the Universal Championship from Lesnar in a match that lasted less than two minutes, an enraged Strowman returned and attacked both Reigns and Lesnar with steel chairs before Reigns delivered two Superman punches and a spear on Strowman to put him through the announce table.
