Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was named the NFL Rookie of the Year at the annual NFL Honors awards show on Saturday night. Prescott, who was drafted in the fourth round out of Mississippi State, took over as the Cowboys’ starter in Week 1 after Tony Romo suffered a preseason back injury.

In his rookie season, Dak Prescott set an NFL record for the fewest interceptions thrown by a rookie quarterback in a season, with four. He also broke the Cowboys’ franchise rookie passing record with 3,667 yards. He was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and was selected to the NFL Pro Bowl.

Dak Prescott set the all-time NFL rookie record for passer rating in a season with a 104.9, passing Ben Roethlisberger’s mark of 98.1 set in 2004. He is also the first rookie quarterback to lead the NFL in passer rating since Russell Wilson did so in 2012.
Ezekiel Elliott
Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys was the unanimous choice for NFL Rookie of the Year. He received all 50 first-place votes in balloting by a nationwide panel of sportswriters and broadcasters who cover the league. Elliott was the NFL’s leading rusher with 1,631 yards, helped the Cowboys to an NFC-best 13-3 record and ran for a league-leading 15 touchdowns.

Elliott had a stellar rookie season, leading the NFL in rushing yards with 1,631 on the ground. He also tacked on 322 receiving yards, which helped him total a league-leading 1,993 yards from scrimmage. His 15 touchdowns were tied for second in the NFL, and he led all running backs with 6.3 yards per carry.

Ezekiel Elliott, who played for the Dallas Cowboys, rushed for 1,631 yards on 322 carries in his rookie year. He also had 15 rushing touchdowns. He was named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Jordan Howard
In 2016, Jordan Howard of the Chicago Bears was named the NFL Rookie of the Year. He ran for 1,313 yards and six touchdowns, and also caught 29 passes for 298 yards. Howard was a fifth-round pick out of Indiana.

In 2016, Howard was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round of the NFL Draft. He was named the starting running back in Week 1. As a rookie, he ran for 1,313 yards, becoming only the second rookie in franchise history to rush for over 1,300 yards. For his performance, he was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team and was also named the NFL Rookie of the Year.

On November 20, 2016, Howard had a career-high 153 rushing yards and a touchdown in a 27–21 victory over the New York Giants. In Week 12, against the Tennessee Titans, he had 84 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns in the 27–21 win. On December 4, 2016, Howard ran for 135 yards on 26 carries and scored a touchdown in a 26–6 win over the San Francisco 49ers. The following week, he had 95 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns (tying Walter Payton’s franchise rookie record) in a 31–15 win against the Detroit Lions on December 11.
Tyreek Hill
Tyreek Hill of the Kansas City Chiefs was named the 2016 NFL Rookie of the Year. The wide receiver/return specialist was drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He is the first player from the Chiefs to win the award since Marcus Allen in 1982.

In his rookie season, Hill had 936 receiving yards, the 4th most among rookies, and had 6 touchdowns. He was named to the PFWA All-Rookie team. He was also named First-team All-Pro as a return specialist.

In his first season as a wide receiver in 2017, Hill broke out, setting multiple franchise records. He caught 87 passes for 1,183 yards and seven receiving touchdowns, becoming the first player in NFL history to record at least 1,000 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns in their second season. He also rushed for 141 yards and one touchdown. For his efforts, he was named first-team All-Pro as a wide receiver and return specialist, and was selected to his first Pro Bowl.
