The New England Patriots are a professional American football team based in the Greater Boston area. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is 28 miles (45 km) southwest of downtown Boston.
Founded in 1959 as the Boston Patriots, better known as the Pats, the team’s primary colors were originally blue and white, inspired by the colors of Harvard University and Yale University, respectively. They eventually changed their colors to silver and red in 1971; three years after they joined the NFL with where they defeated Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl VI—the game which resulted in changing their colors permanently. Having appeared in five Super Bowls in franchise history—XXXI (beat Green Bay Packers), XXXVI (beat St. Louis Rams), XXXVIII (lost to Carolina Panthers), XLIX (beat Seattle Seahawks), and LI (lost to Atlanta Falcons)—the Patriots have compiled an overall record of 27–10 (.730 winning percentage), giving them an AFC-best 27 total conference championships through 2016 season. The Patriots have made numerous appearances on Monday Night Football, including hosting 13 times between 1978 and 2017; more than any other team has hosted during that span or times that they have played on Monday Night Football. The Patriots have appeared on Thursday Night Football ten times since its inception in 2006; always playing either against their AFC East rivals Buffalo Bills or New York Jets whom are also traditional Thanksgiving Day rivals for other teams suchas Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams are a professional American football team that competes in the National Football League (NFL). The Rams franchise was founded in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams in the short-lived second American Football League (AFL) before joining the NFL the next year. In 1946, the franchise moved to Los Angeles. The Rams franchise remained in the metro area until 1994, when they moved to Anaheim Stadium (later Angel Stadium of Anaheim and currently Honda Center), which was located in Orange County, California. The Rams franchise returned to Los Angeles in 2016, relocating to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The name of the team was changed to reflect its new location and went by a variety of names over the next few years before settling on “Los Angeles Rams” in 1949.
The game
The game between the Rams and the 49ers will be a great game to watch. Both teams are evenly matched and it should be a close game. This game will also be a good test for the Rams’ defense. The Rams have been playing well lately and they will need to continue that trend if they want to win this game.
When and where
Two NFL games will be played on Thanksgiving Day 2020. The first game, Detroit Lions vs. Houston Texans, will be broadcast on CBS at 12:30 p.m. ET. The second game, Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins, will be broadcast on FOX at 4:30 p.m. ET.
