What Happened to the TNT NBA Crew?
What happened to the TNT NBA crew? We’re not sure, but we hope they’re doing well!
Introduction
It’s been nearly a decade since the original TNT NBA broadcast crew of Ernie Johnson, Kevin Harlan, and Reggie Miller left the air. Where are they now?
Johnson is now the host of TNT’s Inside the NBA, which features current and former NBA players as analysts. Harlan is still with Turner Sports and calls various NBA games for TNT as well as NFL games for CBS. Miller is now an analyst for ESPN’s NBA coverage.
Ernie Johnson
Ernie Johnson Jr. is an American sportscaster for Turner Sports and CBS Sports. Johnson is the lead television voice for Major League Baseball on TBS. He also calls select games for the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Hawks. He is well known for his work as a studio host for various programs on TNT, TBS and truTV, most notably as the host of Inside the NBA. On April 7, 2018, it was announced that Johnson would be the recipient of the 2018 Curt Gowdy Award from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Charles Barkley
Charles Barkley, nicknamed “Chuck”, “Sir Charles”, and “the Round Mound of Rebound”, is an American former professional basketball player who is currently an analyst on Inside the NBA. Nicknamed “Chuck” during his playing career, Barkley established himself as one of the National Basketball Association’s most controversial players and commentators. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
Barkley was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 5th pick in the 1984 NBA draft. He was selected to both the All-Rookie Team and the All-Star Game in his rookie season. An All-Star for ten consecutive seasons, he played with the Sixers until 1992, when he joined the Phoenix Suns. In 1996, he was traded to Houston Rockets, and helped lead them to their second NBA championship in franchise history in 1999. Barkley retired from playing basketball after winning his final NBA championship as a member of the Houston Rockets in May 2000.
Since retiring as a player, Barkley has had a successful career as a television analyst, most notably for Turner Network Television (TNT) alongside fellow analysts Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson Jr..
Kenny Smith
Kenny Smith is a former NBA player who is now a basketball analyst. He was part of the original TNT NBA crew with Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, and Reggie Miller. He left the network in 2014 after his contract was not renewed.
Shaquille O’Neal
Shaquille O’Neal, also known as Shaq, is a retired professional basketball player who is now a studio analyst on the TNT NBA crew. He is also a former police officer and an actor.
Conclusion
From 2011 to 2017, the TNT NBA crew was one of the most popular and iconic sports broadcasting teams in history. The team was made up of four main personalities: Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson. Each member of the crew brought something unique to the table, and together they formed a hilarious and informative team that was must-watch TV for NBA fans.
However, in recent years, the TNT NBA crew has undergone some changes. In 2018, both Shaq and Barkley left the show, leaving Kenny Smith as the only original member remaining. This has led to some fans questioning what happened to the once-great TNT NBA crew.
There are a few possible explanations for why the TNT NBA crew has changed so much in recent years. First, it’s possible that Shaq and Barkley simply got tired of working together after so many years. It’s also possible that they were offered more money by other networks to leave TNT. Finally, it’s possible that TNT simply decided to shake things up in order to appeal to a wider audience.
Regardless of the reasons behind the changes to the TNT NBA crew, one thing is for sure: they’ll never be forgotten. For years, they brought joy and laughter to millions of basketball fans around the world, and they’ll always be remembered as one of the greatest sports broadcasting teams of all time.
