2008
The 2008 NBA Finals were held June 5–17, 2008, to decide the winner of the 2007–08 NBA season, and conclude the season’s playoffs. The best-of-seven series was played between the Western Conference champion Los Angeles Lakers (who were also defending their NBA Finals title), and the Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics.

The Boston Celtics defeat the Los Angeles Lakers in six games to win their seventeenth NBA championship. The Finals were played between June 5 and 17, 2008, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
The Celtics entered the series as the defending champions, having defeated the Lakers in seven games in the 2007 NBA Finals. The Lakers avenged their previous year’s loss by winning Game 1 of the 2008 Finals by a score of 102–94. They then won Game 2 108–102. However, the Celtics won Game 3 92–86 and took a 2–1 lead after Ray Allen hit a three-pointer with 22 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 87. The Lakers went on to win Games 4 and 5, recapturing homecourt advantage. With a chance to win their fourth consecutive title and ninth overall, the Celtics lost Game 6 by a score of 103–98. Kobe Bryant was named MVP of the Finals for his second consecutive year, becoming only the sixth player ever to win back-to-back Finals MVPs (joining Magic Johnson from 1987 until 1991).

The 2012 NBA Finals were the championship series of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) 2011–12 season and the conclusion of the season’s playoffs. The Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat defeated the Western Conference champion Oklahoma City Thunder 4 games to 1 to win their second NBA title.

2014
On June 5, 2014, the San Antonio Spurs beat the Miami Heat in Game 5 of the NBA Finals to secure their fifth NBA Championship in franchise history. The Spurs previously won championships in 1999, 2003, 2005, and 2007. The 2014 Finals were a rematch of the 2013 Finals, in which the Spurs lost to the Heat in seven games.

The 2016 NBA Finals was the championship series of the National Basketball Association (NBA)’s 2015–16 season and conclusion of the 2016 playoffs. The Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the defending NBA champion and Western Conference champion Golden State Warriors 4–3 in a rematch of the 2015 NBA Finals.

In this best-of-seven playoff, the defending NBA champions and Western Conference champions Golden State Warriors swept the Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers 4 games to 0. This marked the first time in NBA history that a team had defeated the same team in four consecutive Finals. For the fourth straight year, Stephen Curry was named as the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP), becoming only the third player in history to win the award three times (joining Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson).
