A&E to Debut WWE Biography Series

A&E will debut a new, eight-part WWE biography series later this month. The series will chronicle the lives and careers of WWE superstars.

WWE and A&E have teamed up to produce a new, six-part biography series on the lives and careers of some of WWE’s most popular Superstars. The series will provide an intimate look at the real people behind the larger-than-life characters, with first-hand accounts from the Superstars themselves, as well as their family and friends.

A&E to Debut WWE Biography Series

A&E will team with WWE Studios to produce a new, three-part biography series highlighting some of the biggest names in WWE history, the network announced Monday.

WWE Legends with JBL will premiere on A&E on Monday, Nov. 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, following WWE Hall of Famer and current Smackdown Live commentator John Bradshaw Layfield as he travels the country to interview fellow legends and super fans about their favorite WWE memories. The series will feature commentary from luminaries including Vince McMahon, Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, Steve Austin and Mick Foley, as well as current WWE stars Roman Reigns, AJ Styles and Becky Lynch.

“For more than two decades, WWE has entertained millions of fans around the world,” said Rob Sharenow, executive vice president and general manager of A&E and Lifetime Movies. “We are thrilled to partner with WWE Studios to produce this groundbreaking series that will give our viewers an intimate look at the personal lives and careers of some of the most iconic WWE Superstars.”

“A&E’s commitment to producing high-quality biographical programming is unrivaled,” said Jay Blumenfield, president of The Heroz Group, who will executive produce the series along with Tony DiSanto. “Their network is the perfect partner for us to tell these interesting stories behind some of sports entertainment’s most colorful characters.”

WWE Legends with JBL is produced by The Heroz Group for A&E Network. For WWE Studios: Chrisarmus-Nicolas is executive producer; Sarah Weichel is executive in charge of production; Roy Miller is senior vice president; Michael Luisi is president. For A&E: Rob Sharenow and Elaine Frontain Bryant are executive producers; Shelly Tatro is senior vice president of nonfiction and documentary programming; Amy Savitsky is senior vice president of development; David Doss is senior vice president of nonfiction programming; Brad Abramson is head of development.

WWE Legends to be Featured in A&E Biography Series

Beginning this fall, A&E will tell the stories of some of the biggest WWE Legends in a new, eight-part biography series. The two-hour specials will profile Hulk Hogan, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, Jesse Ventura, Bret “Hit Man” Hart, Mr. McMahon, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Each special will feature never-before-seen footage and interviews with WWE Superstars past and present, as well as family members and close friends. In addition, WWE’s vast archive of action-packed footage will be utilized to bring these larger-than-life stories to life.

WWE Legends

The WWE Legends series will be a six-part series that will focus on the lives and careers of some of the most iconic WWE Superstars. The series will debut on the A&E network on November 15th.

Hulk Hogan

World Wrestling Entertainment will premier its first-ever biography series, “WWE Legends,” on the A&E network. The series will focus on some of the most iconic wrestlers in WWE history, including Hulk Hogan.

Hogan, whose real name is Terry Gene Bollea, is one of the most recognizable names in professional wrestling. He rose to fame in the 1980s and was a top star in the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) throughout the decade. Hogan’s popularity helped propel WWE to new heights in the 1980s and early 1990s, and he is widely considered one of the biggest names in professional wrestling history.

After leaving WWE in 1993, Hogan spent several years wrestling in World Championship Wrestling before returning to WWE in 2002. He has since made sporadic appearances for WWE, but has not been an active wrestler since 2006. Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.

The Undertaker

The Phenom, The Deadman, The Lord of Darkness… for more than 25 years, The Undertaker has loomed over the WWE Universe like a dark cloud, striking fear in the hearts of opponents with his very presence. His larger-than-life character made him one of the most enduring Superstars in WWE history and inspired generations of Superstars to come.

Born Mark Calaway in Houston, Texas on March 24, 1965, The Undertaker was the youngest child in a family with four older brothers and sisters. Standing 6-foot-10 and weighing 325 pounds, Calaway was an imposing figure from an early age. He began his sports entertainment career in 1984 after being discovered by WWE Hall of Famer JBL while working as a bouncer at a Dallas nightclub. After training in JBL’s Texas Wrestling Academy, The Undertaker made his WWE debut at Survivor Series 1990 as part of Ted DiBiase’s Million Dollar Team.

Stone Cold Steve Austin

Stone Cold Steve Austin (born Steven James Anderson on December 18, 1964), better known by his ring name “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, is an American actor, producer, television host, and semi-retired professional wrestler. Austin enjoyed a successful wrestling career in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from 1996 to 2002 and was the WWF’s flagship attraction during the height of the company’s popularity in the late 1990s.

During his wrestling career, Austin held numerous titles including the WWF World Heavyweight Championship three times, the WWF Intercontinental Championship twice, the WWF Tag Team Championship twice (with Shawn Michaels and Dude Love), and was also a two-time King of the Ring winner. Furthermore, he was the finalWWF Triple Crown Champion as well as the sixthWWE Triple Crown Champion. In addition to these accomplishments, Austin was also a co-host of Survivor Series in 2001 and WWE’s flagship pay-per-view event WrestleMania X-Seven in 2001. He has also starred in The Condemned (2007) and knocks out opponents in a UFC ring on occasion.

WWE Superstars

A&E will debut a new biography series on some of WWE’s most popular superstars, giving fans an inside look at their lives both in and out of the ring. The series will feature in-depth interviews with WWE superstars past and present, as well as never-before-seen footage.

John Cena

John Cena is an American professional wrestler, actor, and rapper. He is signed to WWE, where he is a free agent who appears for both the Raw and SmackDown brands. Cena started his professional wrestling career in 1999 with Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW), and won the UPW Heavyweight Championship the following year. Cena signed a contract with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 2001. He was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), and was later promoted to the main roster in 2002. He became United States Champion that same year by defeating The Rock.

Roman Reigns

WWE Superstar Roman Reigns will be the subject of the first installment in a new WWE-themed biography series on A&E. The one-hour special, produced by A&E IndieFilms and WWE Studios, will premiere on Tuesday, November 19 at 10PM ET/PT on A&E Network.

The Roman Reigns special will chronicle the WWE Superstar’s journey from his humble beginnings in Pensacola, Florida to his rise to the top of WWE. The special will feature new interviews with Roman Reigns, as well as his family and closest friends. Additionally, the special will include never-before-seen footage and photos from Roman Reigns’ personal collection.

AJ Styles

AJ Styles (born June 2, 1977) is an American professional wrestler currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the SmackDown brand. In WWE, Styles has held the WWE Championship three times and the WWE Universal Championship once. He is also a one-time United States Champion, a two-time Intercontinental Champion, and a one-time WWE Tag Team Champion as part of The Club (with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson). He is the only professional wrestler in history to complete both the Grand Slam and the Triple Crown.

In May 2014, Styles signed with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), making his debut in that promotion at the Invasion Attack pay-per-view event. In NJPW, he became a one-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion, a two-time IWGP Intercontinental Champion, and a five-time IWGP Tag Team Champion as part of Bullet Club. He also won the prestigious G1 Climax tournament in 2016.

Between WWE, NJPW and Ring of Honor (ROH), Styles has won 25 championships in total. He is also widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.
