Bellaire high school first fielded a baseball team in the spring of 1911. The team was coached by Charles Martin, who would go on to coach the Houston Colt .45s, the city’s first Major League Baseball team. The 1911 team went undefeated, winning all seven of its games.
The success of the 1911 team set the stage for what would become one of the most successful high school baseball programs in the country. Over the next century, Bellaire baseball teams would win 27 district championships, 18 Regional Championships and six state championships The program would produce more than 200 Major League baseball players including Hall of Famers Craig Biggio and Lance Berkman.
Today, Bellaire baseball is as strong as ever. The program has won three State Championships in the past decade and continues to produce top-level talent.
