Introduction
Delaware High School baseball is governed by the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association. There are currently 42 high schools that compete in baseball within the state of Delaware. The purpose of this ranking is to provide a snapshot of where each Delaware high school baseball team stands relative to the others at the beginning of the season. This is not a prediction of how teams will finish the season, but rather where they stand as of the start of the season. The rankings are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: Strength of Schedule recent results, pre-season polls and rankings, and returning starters.
#1 Salesianum School
Salesianum School is a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school located in Wilmington, Delaware. The school was founded in 1902 by the Salesians of Don Bosco and is the largest private high school in the state of Delaware. Salesianum School serves grades 9-12 and has an enrollment of approximately 1,000 students. The school’s campus is situated on 54 acres (220,000 m2) and features seven academic buildings, a library, two gymnasiums, a theater, a cafeteria, an outdoor track & field complex and baseball stadiums
The school’s mascot is the Sals’ Eagle and the school colors are navy blue and white. The school motto is “Enter to Learn – Depart to Serve”. Salesianum School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
#2 Middletown High School
Middletown high school is ranked #2 in the state of Delaware for high school baseball They have an outstanding record of 18 wins and 3 losses. They are led by their star pitcher, Sean Murphy who has already committed to play baseball for the University of Virginia
#3 Appoquinimink High School
Appoquinimink high school is ranked #3 in the state of Delaware for High school baseball They have an outstanding record of 19-1 and are coached by Mark Scrivano. Appoquinimink is a three-time state champion and has won five conference championships
#4 Conrad Schools of Science
Conrad Schools of Science is ranked #4 in the state of Delaware according to Delaware High School Baseball Rankings.
#5 St. Mark’s High School
St. Mark’s high school is ranked #5 in the state of Delaware for high school baseball They are a Division I school and have a strong baseball program They have won the state championship 3 times in the last 5 years and are traditionally one of the top teams in the state.
#6 Newark Charter School
Newark Charter School is a public charter school located in Newark, Delaware. It is part of the Christina School District and serves grades 9-12. The school’s colors are black and gold, and its mascot is the Norseman.
Newark Charter School was founded in 2001 and opened its doors to students in September 2002. The school was ranked #6 in the state of Delaware by Delaware high school baseball Rankings for the 2019-2020 Season
#7 Wilmington Friends School
The Wilmington Friends School Quakers enter the 2018 high school baseball season ranked #7 in the state of Delaware. The Quakers are coming off a 2017 season in which they went 15-5 and won the Friends School League Championship The Quakers will be led by senior pitcher Justin Dacey, who was named the 2017 Friends School League Pitcher of the Year.
#8 Red Lion Christian Academy
Red Lion Christian Academy (8-2) enters the Top 10 for the first time this season. The Lions have won seven straight, with their only losses coming to St. Mark’s and Sanford. Red Lion has wins over St. Georges, Archmere, and Salesianum.
#9 Smyrna High School
Smyrna High School comes in at #9 on our Delaware high school baseball Rankings. Smyrna is home to some very talented baseball players and they have a great Coaching Staff The team’s hard work has paid off, and they are consistently one of the top teams in the state.
