As the NHL regular season comes to a close, teams are already looking ahead to the offseason and making plans for the 2019-2020 season One of the most important decisions each team has to make is who will be their Head Coach

Below is a list of NHL coaches who are available for the 2019-2020 season:

Top 10 NHL Coaches Available for the 2019-2020 Season

1. Joel Quenneville: He led the Blackhawks to three Stanley Cup titles in six seasons and is the NHL’s second-winningest coach with 890 victories. He was fired by Chicago on Nov. 6 after a slow start to the season.
2. Mike Babcock: He coached the Red Wings to the Stanley Cup title in 2008 and back to the finals in 2009, but couldn’t get them over the hump since then. He was let go by Detroit on Wednesday after a dismal start to the season.
3. Todd McLellan: He coached the Sharks to six straight playoff appearances, but was let go by San Jose last offseason after they missed the playoffs.
4. Gerard Gallant: He was named coach of the year after leading the Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup Final in their expansion season, but was fired midseason after a slow start this year.
5. John Stevens: He led the Kings to within two wins of a Stanley Cup title in 2014, but was fired earlier this month after a terrible start to Los Angeles’s season.
6. Barry Trotz: He led the Capitals to their first Stanley Cup title in franchise history last season, but left Washington after failing to agree on a new contract and subsequently signed with Islanders.
7. David Quinn: He led the Rangers to a surprise playoff appearance last season, but has them off to a slow start this year.
8. Claude Julien: He coached Boston to a Stanley Cup title in 2011 and led Montreal back to respectability, but was fired midway through last season amid rumors of player dissatisfaction with his defense-first style of play.
9. Pete DeBoer: He coached New Jersey to an unlikely trip to the Stanley Cup Final in 2012 and took San Jose on a deep run last year, but was fired earlier this month after a slow start this season by the Sharks.

5 NHL Coaches Available for the 2019-2020 Season

It’s almost that time of year again when NHL Teams start to look for new coaches. Here are 5 coaches who will be available for the 2019-2020 season.

1. Joel Quenneville: Quenneville was most recently the head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks who he led to 3 Stanley Cup wins. He was also the Head Coach of the St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche

2. Ken Hitchcock: Hitchcock is a veteran NHL coach having coached for 5 different teams over his career. He most recently coached the Dallas Stars but has also had coaching stints with the Philadelphia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets and St. Louis Blues

3. Claude Julien: Julien is currently the Head coach of the Montreal Canadiens but has also coached the New Jersey Devils and Boston Bruins in the past. He led the Bruins to a Stanley Cup win in 2011.

4. Bruce Boudreau: Boudreau is currently the head coach of the Anaheim Ducks but has also coached the Washington Capitals and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the past. He won Coach of the Year honors in 2007-2008 while with the Capitals.

5. Mike Babcock: Babcock is currently the head coach of Team Canada’s men’s national team but has also coached in the NHL for teams such as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs He led the Red Wings to a Stanley Cup win in 2008 and has won 2 Olympic gold medals as Team Canada’s head coach (2010, 2014).

3 NHL Coaches Available for the 2019-2020 Season

As the NHL season swiftly approaches, there are a few teams who are still in search of a head coach As of right now, there are three NHL coaches available for the 2019-2020 season.

The first coach available is John Stevens. Stevens coached the Los Angeles Kings for two seasons before being relieved of his duties in April 2019. Prior to coaching the Kings, Stevens spent six seasons as an Assistant Coach with the Philadelphia Flyers. He has also been a head coach in the AHL, winning a Calder Cup with the Philadelphia Phantoms in 2005.

The second coach available is Randy Carlyle. Carlyle was most recently the Head Coach of the Anaheim Ducks but was relieved of his duties in February 2019. Carlyle has also been the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs and won a Stanley Cup with the Ducks in 2007. He has a career NHL coaching record of 673-613-84.

The third and final coach available is Willie Desjardins. Desjardins coached the Vancouver Canucks for four seasons before being relieved of his duties in April 2018. Prior to coaching the Canucks, he spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Dallas Stars and one season as head coach of their AHL affiliate, the Texas Stars He has also been a head coach in Junior hockey winning back-to-back Memorial Cups with the WHL’s Medicine Hat Tigers in 2007 and 2008.

-Bruce Boudreau: Boudreau was most recently the head coach of the Minnesota Wild He was fired in April 2019 after 4 seasons with the team. Prior to that, he coached the Anaheim Ducks for 6 seasons. He has a career NHL coaching record of 702-527-115.

NHL Coaches on the hot seat for the 2019-2020 Season

NHL teams are always looking for the next big thing A new coach can sometimes be just what a team needs to get over the hump and make it to the Stanley Cup playoffs With that in mind, here are some NHL coaches who may be on the hot seat for the 2019-2020 season.

Bruce Boudreau: After another early playoff exit, Boudreau may be feeling the heat in Anaheim. The Ducks have missed the playoffs in two of the last three seasons and haven’t made it past the second round since 2015.

Todd McLellan: The Sharks are coming off a disappointing 2018-2019 season in which they failed to make the playoffs. McLellan is entering his fourth season with the Sharks and has yet to lead them past the second round of the playoffs.

Paul Maurice: The Jets have failed to make the playoffs in each of Maurice’s four seasons as Head Coach Maurice’s contract is up after next season and he could be coaching for his job in 2019-2020.

Jon Cooper: The Lightning have been one of the best teams in the NHL over the last few years, but they haven’t been able to get over the hump and win a Stanley Cup Cooper is entering his seventh season with the Lightning and has yet to win a Stanley Cup

Bruce Boudreau: After leading the Minnesota Wild to their best season in franchise history, Bruce Boudreau will be a hot commodity on the coaching market this offseason. Boudreau has a wealth of experience, having coached over 1,000 NHL games with stops in Anaheim, Washington, and Minnesota. He’s also been to the playoffs in 10 of his 11 seasons as an NHL head coach

Todd McLellan: Todd McLellan was let go by the Edmonton Oilers mid-season after a disappointing start to the year. McLellan is a well-respected coach with a proven track record of success, having coached over 750 NHL Games with stops in San Jose and Edmonton. He led the Sharks to six consecutive playoff appearances from 2008-2014 and he won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s Coach of the Year in 2016.

Gerard Gallant: Gerard Gallant was shockingly fired by the Vegas Golden Knights just two years after leading them to the Stanley Cup final in their inaugural season. Gallant is known for his ability to get the most out of his players and he should have no trouble finding another head coaching job this offseason.
