The Pitching Staff

The Pitching Staff

Leading the way is senior center fielder, Jake Robinson. Robinson is a 5-tool player that can do it all. He hits for average and power, he’s a great runner, and he has excellent range in the field. He’s also a smart player with a good knowledge of the game. Along with Robinson, the outfield also features two other seniors in right field, Nick Henderson and Left fielder Matt Smith. Henderson is another 5-tool player that hits for average and power. He’s also a very good defender with a strong arm. Smith is the team’s best power hitter and he’s also a solid defender in left field Rounding out the outfield is junior, Tyler Johnson Johnson is a great athlete with good speed and defense. He’s also developing into a very good hitter and should be one of the team’s top run producers this season.

The Catchers

The CVCC baseball team will be relying on a strong crop of catchers this season to help them achieve their goal of winning the conference championship

Leading the way is junior starter Michael Perez, who is coming off a breakout year in which he was named first team All-Conference. Perez is a big target behind the plate, with a strong arm that allows him to control the running game. He’s also an excellent hitter, and should be one of the top run producers in the lineup.

Backing up Perez will be sophomore Mikey Houser, who saw limited action last season but has impressed coaches with his improvement during fall practice. Houser is a solid defender with a good arm, and he should see more time on the field this year as he continues to develop his offensive game.

Rounding out the catching corps is freshman Jacob Rodriguez, who will serve as the team’s primary designated hitter when he’s not behind the plate. The CVCC baseball team has a lot to prove this season. After just missing the playoffs last year, the team has been working hard to improve their game and make a strong push for the title. But it’s not just the players that are key to the team’s success. The Coaching Staff plays a vital role in ensuring that the team is prepared mentally and physically for every game. Coach John Smith has been with CVCC for 5 years and was recently named Head Coach He has experience at every level of baseball, from little league to college, and his knowledge of the game is second to none. Coach Smith is a demanding coach who expects his players to give 110% on every play, but he also knows how to get the best out of his team and instill confidence in them.

Assistant Coach Mike Johnson is in his first year with CVCC, but he has already made a big impact on the team. His positive attitude and passion for baseball are infectious, and he always has a smile on his face. Coach Johnson is also a great motivator, and he always finds a way to get his players fired up for games.

Rounding out the coaching staff is pitching coach Jeff Williams. Coach Williams joined CVCC last year and immediately improved the performance of the pitchers on the roster. His wealth of experience (he pitched in the minor leagues for 5 years) and knowledge of pitching mechanics have helped CVCC’s pitchers take their game to the next level.
