Catchers
Davidson College has had a long and storied history in baseball, with many Great players donning the Wildcat uniform over the years. This year’s team is no different, with a talented group of young men ready to take the field and compete at the highest level
One area of particular strength on this year’s squad is behind the plate, where Davidson has a trio of excellent catchers. Seniors Alex Kachler and Matt Tillman provide a wealth of experience, while junior Logan McCarthy is one of the most promising young talents in the country.
All three catchers are excellent defenders with strong arms, and they will be invaluable in helping to control the run game for Davidson this season. They also each bring something different to the table offensively. Kachler is a patient hitter who can work counts and get on base, Tillman has some pop in his bat and is a threat to drive in runs, and McCarthy is a gifted hitter with a sweet swing who should be one of the top offensive contributors on the team.
No matter who is behind the plate for Davidson this season, they are in good hands. With three talented and experienced catchers leading the way, big things are expected from this year’s squad.
