He began the 2015 season with San Jose before being promoted to the Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels in June. That September, he was added to the Giants’ 40-man roster.
Nelson made his Major League debut on April 8, 2018, pitching one inning of relief against the Los Angeles Dodgers He appeared in 32 games for the Giants in 2018, compiling a 4–0 record with a 5.11 ERA.

Q: How did you get interested in baseball?
A: I come from a family of baseball fans My dad used to take me to see the Yankees play, and I just fell in love with the sport. I started playing when I was eight years old, and I haven’t stopped since.
Q: What has been your favorite moment of your career so far?
A: It’s hard to choose just one, but I would say winning the World Series with the Yankees was pretty special. That was an incredible feeling.
