UIL Baseball Districts: The Top Teams to Watch

The UIL baseball playoffs are just around the corner, and we’ve got a rundown of the Top Teams to watch in each district.

In District 1-6A, the top seeds are Irving MacArthur, Duncanville, DeSoto, and Grand Prairie But keep an eye on Mansfield Legacy, who upset Duncanville in last year’s playoffs and could make some noise again this year.

In District 2-6A, the big favorites are Plano West, Flower Mound Marcus, Flower Mound, and Lewisville Hebron. But don’t sleep on Coppell or Keller, who could both make a run at the district title.

The top teams in District 3-6A are all from the Fort Worth area: Keller Fossil Ridge Keller Central, Arlington Martin, Weatherford. But Arlington Lamar could be a dark horse to watch out for.

And finally, in District 4-6A, the teams to beat are Midland Lee, Odessa Permian, Midland High School and Odessa high school But keep an eye on San Angelo Central – they might not be the favorite to win the district title but they could certainly cause some upsets along the way.

With the high school baseball season in full swing, districts are starting to take shape. Here’s a look at the top teams in each UIL district.

District 1-6A:

1. Flower Mound Marcus – The Marauders have been one of the state’s best teams all season, and they should be a force in the playoffs.

2. Keller – The Indians have been solid all season, and they’ll be a tough out in the postseason.

3. Denton Guyer – The Wildcats have some big-time talent, and they could make a run at a state title.

District 2-6A:
1. Plano West – The Wolves have been one of the state’s best teams all season, and they should be a force in the playoffs.
2. Plano East – The Panthers have been solid all season, and they’ll be a tough out in the postseason.
3. Sachse – The Mustangs have some big-time talent, and they could make a run at a state title.

The top contenders in each UIL baseball district

With the high school baseball season underway, here is a look at the top teams in each UIL district.

In District 14-6A, Cypress Ranch is the favorite after winning the district title last year. The Mustangs are off to a hot start this season, with a 9-1 record. They are led by senior pitcher Zachary Humphreys, who has committed to play at TCU.

Another team to watch in 14-6A is Jersey Village. The Falcons have a young but talented team, led by sophomore pitcher Sean Watson and freshman infielder/outfielder Luke Bowman. Jersey Village is off to a 7-3 start this season.

District 13-5A is wide open, with no clear favorite. Pflugerville Connally is off to a good start this season, with an 8-2 record. But opponents have been able to score runs off of the Cougars’ pitching staff, so Connally will need to shore up that area if it wants to contend for the district title.

Hutto is another team to watch in 13-5A. The Hippos have struggled offensively at times this season, but they have received strong pitching from their starters, including senior Michael Hearne and junior Will Mena. Hutto is 6-4 on the season.

In District 12-4A, La Grange is the favorite after winning the district title last year. The Leopards are 9-1 on the season and feature one of the best pitchers in Class 4A, senior right-hander Hayden Hirschmann. La Grange also has a solid lineup, with six different players batting over .300 on the season.

Giddings is another team to watch in 12-4A. The Buffaloes are 7-3 on the season and feature a balanced offense that features seven different players with at least 10 hits on the season. Giddings also has a talented pitching staff, led by senior right-hander Tanner Tauscher and junior lefty Kaleb Martinez.

The teams with the best chance to win a UIL Baseball District title

The following is a list of the teams that have the best chance to win a UIL baseball district title. These teams have either won multiple district titles or have shown excellence in recent years

Brazosport Exporters
The Brazosport Exporters have won 19 UIL baseball district titles, the most of any team in Texas. They have also won two State Championships in 2000 and 2012. The team is coached by Mark Schulte, who has been at Brazosport since 2006.

Clear Creek Wildcats
Clear Creek has won nine UIL baseball district titles and made one appearance in the state championship game, which they lost in 2010. The team is coached by Jason Jindra, who has been at Clear Creek since 2005.

Cypress Ranch Mustangs
Cypress Ranch has won seven UIL baseball district titles and made one appearance in the state championship game, which they lost in 2016. The team is coached by Chris Quillian, who has been at Cypress Ranch since 2013.

Deer Park Deer
Deer Park has won eight UIL baseball district titles and made one appearance in the state championship game, which they lost in 2011. The team is coached by Greg Debeljak, who has been at Deer Park since 2006.

Arlington Martin: The Warriors have been one of the more pleasant surprises in North Texas this season, enter district play with a 13-4 record. They are led by a strong pitching staff that includes TCU commit Pichi Balet and Texas Tech signee Dylan Dusek.

District 8-5A:
Amarillo Tascosa: The Rebels have been one of the hottest teams in the state over the last month, winning 12 of their last 14 games. They are led by a senior class that includes Baylor signee Leyton Payne and Texas Tech signee Nate Rombach.

District 25-4A:
Corpus Christi Moody: The Trojans have been one of the more consistent teams in South Texas this season, enter district play with an 11-4 record. They are led by a strong pitching staff that includes UTSA commit Jesse Perez and Texas A&M CCT signee Nate Samson.

District 27-3A:
Rockport-Fulton: The Pirates have been one of the best stories in all of Texas this season, enter district play with a 15-1 record. They are led by a dynamic duo in the pitching circle with Baylor signee Kelsey Inglesby and UTSA commit Trinity Cowart.

The key games in each UIL baseball district

As the UIL baseball season enters its final stretch, some key games in each district will determine playoff positioning. Here’s a look at some of the most intriguing district contests around the state.

District 1-6A: The top two teams in this district, Flower Mound andMarcus, are both ranked in the top 25 of the latest Texas High school baseball poll. They’ll meet for the final time on April 16, with first place on the line.

District 2-6A: This is another strong district, with four teams currently ranked in the top 25. The key matchup will be on April 30, when second-place Midland Lee takes on first-place Odessa Permian.

District 3-6A: In this wide-open district, anyone could end up in first place. The key game to watch will be on April 23, when first-place Keller takes on second-place Keller Central.
