“Miracle” is a 2004 American sports drama film directed by Gavin O’Connor. The film stars Kurt Russell as Herb Brooks the Head Coach of the United States men’s national Hockey Team at the 1980 Winter Olympics and Patricia Clarkson as his wife, Patty Brooks. The movie also features a large ensemble cast, including Noah Emmerich, Sean McCann, Eddie Cahill, Brian Goodman, and Michael Mantenuto as members of the 1980 Olympic team. “Miracle” was released in theaters on February 6, 2004 to positive reviews and grossed $64 million worldwide.
“Goon”
“Goon” is a 2012 Canadian sports comedy film. The film stars Seann William Scott as Doug “The Thug” Glatt, a nice but dim-witted bouncer who is hired to protect the star player of his hometown Hockey Team the Halifax Highlanders. The film also stars Liev Schreiber, Alison Pill, Kim Coates and Eugene Levy. Doug’s job is made more difficult by the presence of a rival goon, Ross “The Boss” Rhea (Schreiber), who has been brought in to take the Highlanders down.
“Goon” was directed by Michael Dowse and written by Jay Baruchel and Evan Goldberg. It is based on the book Goon: The true story of an Unlikely Journey into minor league hockey by Adam Frattasio and Doug Smith. The film was released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 27, 2012.
“The Rock”
“The Rock” is a 1996 action thriller starring Sean Connery and Nicolas Cage. The movie is about a group of terrorists who take over Alcatraz and threaten to destroy San Francisco unless their demands are met. Cage’s character, FBI chemical weapons expert Dr. Stanley Goodspeed, is called in to help diffuses the situation. “The Rock” is considered one of the best hockey movies ever made.
