The top three teams in the ECAC standings are Cornell, Colgate, and Yale. These teams have been consistently strong throughout the season and look poised to make a run at the conference title Cornell is currently in first place with a record of 17-3-0, followed by Colgate in second place with a 16-4-0 record. Yale rounds out the top three with a 15-5-0 record.
How the teams got to their current position
In order to find out which team is currently on top of the Ecac Mens Hockey Standings, one must first understand how the teams got to their current position.
As of now, there are 10 teams in the ECAC Mens Hockey Standings. Each team has played between 13 and 16 games, with the exception of Brown who has only played 12. The current standings are as follows:

Based on the current standings, it is evident that Yale is on top of the Ecac Mens Hockey Standings. They have 24 total points, which is two more than Cornell who is in second place with 22 total points. Clarkson rounds out the top three with 21 total points.

As of right now, the top three teams in the conference are as follows:

The special teams have been a big story in NCAA Hockey this season. Many of the top teams in the country have strong power play units, and that has helped them to rack up wins. Here are three teams that have been especially dangerous with the man advantage.
1. St. Cloud State
The Huskies have the best power play in the country, converting on 29.4% of their opportunities. They have scored 33 goals on 113 power play chances, and that has been a big reason why they are one of the top teams in the nation.
2. Providence
Providence has been nearly as good as St. Cloud State on the power play converting on 28.9% of their chances. The Friars have scored 30 goals on 104 power play opportunities, and that has helped them to compete for a spot in the NCAA tournament
3. Minnesota Duluth
Another team that has benefited from a strong power play is Minnesota Duluth The Bulldogs have converted on 26.9% of their chances, scoring 27 goals on 100 power play opportunities. That has helped them to stay near the top of the standings in a tough conference race.

In order to have a successful season it’s important for a Hockey Team to have a strong penalty kill unit. The penalty kill is when the opposing team has a power play and the team tries to prevent them from scoring. The teams with the best penalty kill units are usually the ones that make it far in the playoffs.

Clarkson: The Golden Knights have been near the top of the standings all season long and they currently sit in first place. Clarkson has one of the best defenses in the country and they have been very consistent offensively. Cornell: The Big Red are right behind Clarkson in the standings and they have also been very consistent this season. The top team in the standings right now is Clarkson. They have been on a tear lately, winning 10 of their last 11 games. Their only loss during that stretch was to Yale, who they are still ahead of in the standings.
Yale is currently in second place and is also playing well, winning eight of their last 10 games. They have a tough road ahead though, as they still have to face off against Harvard, Dartmouth, and Quinnipiac.
