This meme originated from the story of a five-year-old boy named Miles Scott, who fought leukemia for most of his life. In November 2013, Scott’s wish to be “Batman for a Day” was granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The city of San Francisco went all out, transforming into Gotham City complete with a Batmobile, criminals, and of course, Scott in full Batman gear.
The #BatKid story quickly went viral, with people all over the world cheering on Scott as he saved Gotham City. The story even caught the attention of then-President Barack Obama who sent Scott a personal message of support.
In 2015, Major League Baseball decided to honor Scott at the All-Star game by having him throw out the first pitch. MLB also created this amazing video tribute to #BatKid, which brought even more attention to his story.

Billy Hamilton’s catch
On September 28th, 2015, Cincinnati Reds center fielder Billy Hamilton made one of the greatest catches in baseball history With his team leading the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning Hamilton tracked down a deep fly ball hit by Pirates’ outfielder Andrew McCutchen and made an unbelievable leaping catch at the wall to preserve the victory.

The catch was so impressive that it spawned a number of hilarious memes and GIFs showing Hamilton making other improbable catches (like catching a baby thrown from a burning building). It also cemented Hamilton’s reputation as one of the best fielders in baseball today.
