Best Overall Player
The Baseball Superlative Awards are given out every year to the best players in each baseball league Some of the awards are given out by the fans, while others are given out by the media. Here are some of the best and worst of the awards.
Best Overall Player: This award goes to the player who was the best all-around player in the baseball league This year, it goes to Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels He is one of the best hitters and fielders in baseball and he is also a great baserunner.
Worst Overall Player: This award goes to the player who was the worst all-around player in baseball. This year, it goes to Chris Davis of the Baltimore Orioles He is a horrible hitter, and he is also a terrible fielder.
Best Hitter
There are many great hitters in baseball, but there can only be one best hitter. Some of the contenders for this prestigious title include Mike Trout Miguel Cabrera and Jose Altuve All three of these players have been considered some of the best hitters in recent years
Mike Trout is a young player who has already made a name for himself as one of the best hitters in baseball. He has a career batting average of .307 and an on-base percentage of .420. He also has plenty of power, as evidenced by his career Slugging percentage of .561.
Miguel Cabrera is a more experienced player who has been one of the best hitters in baseball for many years. He has a career batting average of .321 and an on-base percentage of .399. His power is also impressive, with a career slugging percentage of .548.
Jose Altuve is another young player who has been impressing everyone with his hitting ability. He has a career batting average of .316 and an on-base percentage of .353. His power numbers are not as high as Trout or Cabrera, but he more than makes up for it with his speed on the base paths.
All three of these players are great hitters, but there can only be one best hitter. Based on their career numbers, it is clear that Mike Trout is the best hitter in baseball today.
Best Pitcher
There are a lot of great pitchers in the MLB, but who is the best? That’s a question that can be debated endlessly, but we’re here to try to answer it. We’ve looked at the numbers and considered the individual achievements of each pitcher to come up with our list of the best pitchers in baseball.
1. Clayton Kershaw Los Angeles Dodgers
Kershaw is a three-time Cy Young Award winner and he’s also been named National League MVP twice. He’s been named an All-Star seven times and he’s led the league in ERA five times. He’s widely considered to be the best pitcher in baseball and it’s hard to argue with that designation.
2. Max Scherzer Washington Nationals
Scherzer is a two-time Cy Young Award winner and he was also named National League MVP in 2016. He’s been an All-Star six times and he’s led the league in strikeouts five times. He’s been one of the best pitchers in baseball for a long time and there’s no reason to think that will change anytime soon.
3. Justin Verlander, Houston Astros
Verlander is a one-time Cy Young Award winner and he was also named American League MVP in 2011. He’s been an All-Star eight times and he’s led the league in strikeouts four times. Verlander is still pitching at a high level and he’s one of the best pitchers in Baseball Today
Best Rookie
In 2012, the best rookie in baseball was Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels Trout had a batting average of .326, with 30 home runs and 83 RBIs. He also stole 49 bases.
Most Improved Player
The Most Improved Player Award is given to the player who shows the most significant improvement from the previous season. This can be measured by a variety of statistics, but the most common is OPS+ (on-base plus slugging percentage adjusted for league and ballpark). The award was first given out in 1965, and has been given to some of the game’s best players, including Miguel Cabrera, Frank Thomas and Larry Walker However, the award has also been given to players who had breakout seasons after several years of mediocrity, or who simply had a lucky year. Here are some of the best and worst recipients of the Most Improved Player Award
Comeback Player of the Year
The Comeback Player of the Year Award is given to a player who has shown significant improvement from the previous season. This could be due to injury, personal problems, or simply poor performance. The award is voted on by the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA).
Some of the recent winners of the award include Kris Bryant (2018), Miguel Cabrera (2017), Anthony Rendon (2016), and Josh Harrison (2015). All of these players had very different reasons for their comebacks. For Bryant, it was all about getting over his injuries and proving that he was still one of the best players in baseball Cabrera battled back from multiple surgeries to return to his former MVP self. Rendon put up huge numbers after struggling with injuries for most of his career. Harrison was a relative unknown who came out of nowhere to have a breakout season.
There have been some great comebacks in baseball history but there have also been some terrible ones. Alex Rodriguez won the award in 2009 after hitting just .265 with 18 home runs in 2008. He then proceeded to get suspended for using PEDs twice and generally being awful.Other notable failures include Druw Jones (2010), Bobby Abreu (2012), Vernon Wells (2013), and Michael Bourn (2014).
So, who will win the 2019 Comeback Player of the Year? There are a lot of candidates, but it will probably come down to a few key names. Dellin Betances, Dustin Pedroia, Miguel Andujar, Yasiel Puig Mike Minor and Matt Boyd are all likely contenders. It should be a very close race this year.
Defensive Player of the Year
The Defensive Player of the Year Award is given to the player who is considered to be the best Defensive Player in baseball. This award was first given out in 2012 and is voted on by a panel of baseball experts.
The award is given to the player who demonstrates superior defensive skills and makes a significant impact on the defensive side of the game. This award is different from the Gold Glove Award which is given to the best defensive player at each position.
The winner of the Defensive Player of the Year Award receives a trophy and a $50,000 bonus. The runner-up receives a $25,000 bonus, and third place receives a $10,000 bonus.
Best Manager
There have been some great managers in baseball history These are the men who have led their teams to success on the field, sometimes against all odds. They are the men who have inspired loyalty and dedication in their players, and who have created winning cultures in their clubs.
Some of the best managers in baseball history include Yorkshire-born Joe Maddon, who led the Chicago Cubs to a historic World Series win in 2016; Buck Showalter, who transformed the Baltimore Orioles into a contenders; and Terry Francona, who guided the Boston Red Sox to two World Series titles.
Other great managers include Tony La Russa, Leo Durocher, Earl Weaver Tommy Lasorda and Billy Martin These men may not have won a World Series but they are all legends in the game.
