The Baumgardner baseball coaching Staff

The Baumgardner Baseball coaching staff is one of the most experienced and successful in the area. The Head Coach Matt Baumgardner, played baseball at the Division I level and has been coaching for over 10 years. His assistant coaches Mike and Josh, also played Division I Baseball and have a wealth of knowledge to share with the team. The rest of the coaching staff includes former Division I and professional players who are dedicated to helping the team succeed.

The Baumgardner Baseball Legacy

The Baumgardner Baseball Legacy began in the small town of Cooperstown, New York. Babe Ruth played his first game with the Boston Red Sox atBaumes Gardiner’s minor league Ballpark. The tradition of great baseball players continuing their careers at Baumgardner’s Field has continued for over one hundred years. Major League Baseball greats such as Ty Cobb, Hank Aaron and Cal Ripken Jr. all played at Baumgardner’s Field during their careers. Today, the ballpark is home to the Cooperstown Hawks, a minor league team affiliated with the New York Yankees

The Baumgardner family has been involved in baseball since the early days of the sport. The current owner of the ballpark, Steven Baumgardner, is the third generation of Baumgardners to own and operate the ball park. Steven’s grandfather, Walter, built the current ball park in 1926. Walter’s son, Richard, took overthe family business in 1964. Steven began working at the ball park when he was just a teenager and eventually took over operations in 1995.

The Baumgardner family legacy continues today with Steven’s son, Michael, who is now a part of the family business. The fourth generation of Baumgardners is keeping alive the tradition of great baseball at Baumgardner’s Field.
