Team Roster

The 2019-2020 Ireton Cardinals Basketball team consists of 14 student athletes. The team is coached by John Thompson III who is in his first year as Head Coach of the Cardinals.

The Bishop Ireton Cardinals boys basketball team is off to a hot start this season. As of December 18th, they are 4-0 in conference play and 6-1 overall. Here are the results of their recent games:

On November 5th, The Washington Post published an article highlighting the Bishop Ireton Cardinals and their chances for success this season. The article, written by Virginia AAA girls’ basketball beat reporter James Wagner, includes quotes from head coach Jerrywoods Virginia and several of the team’s Key Players

The Cardinals are coming off a successful 23-5 campaign in which they advanced to the Virginia AAA state semifinals. They will look to build on that success this season with a core group of returnees that includes all-conference point guard Aliyah Mathis, shooting guard Daija Powell, and center Amina Edwards. The team will also benefit from the addition of transfer student Mya Thorpe, a talented wing player who should help them compete for a conference title
