Can-Am baseball is a bit of a misnomer. The league actually began in the United States in 1961 as the Senior Professional Baseball Association. It was made up of former Major League Baseball players, as well as some players with experience in foreign leagues. The league only lasted for three seasons, but was revived in 1988 as the Senior League. Once again, it consisted of former MLB players, as well as some players with experience in foreign leagues. In 1992, the league changed its name to the Can-Am League, and added several Canadian teams to its roster.
