The Cape Cod baseball League’s top players

The best college baseball players in the country flock to the Cape Cod baseball League each summer to play for one of the 10 teams in the league.

The league is made up of players who have completed their junior or senior years of college and are looking to hone their skills before they enter the professional ranks.

Each team plays a 36-game regular season schedule, with games starting in late June and running through early August. The top four teams in each division then advance to the playoffs, which culminate with the Championship game on August 13.

The Cape Cod baseball League’s history

The Cape Cod baseball league is one of the oldest and most prestigious summer collegiate baseball leagues in the country. The league was founded in 1885, and today it is made up of 10 teams across Cape Cod and the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Each team plays a 44-game schedule from late June to early August, with the top 4 teams advancing to the playoffs.

The CCBL has a long history of producing Major League Baseball stars, including Hall of Famers such as Babe Ruth Ted Williams and Andre Dawson More than 1,100 CCBL alumni have gone on to play Major League Baseball including current stars like Justin Verlander, Dustin Pedroia, and Matt Harvey

The ten teams in the Cape Cod Baseball League play their home games in some of the most picturesque minor league baseball stadiums in the country. All of the stadiums are located on or near Cape Cod, making for a great summer baseball experience.

Falmouth Commodores – The Commodores play their home games at Guv Fuller Field, located in Falmouth, Massachusetts. The field is named after former Commodore and longtime league volunteer, Gus Fuller.

Hyannis Harbor Hawks – The Harbor Hawks play their home games at McKeon Park, located in Hyannis, Massachusetts. The park is named after former Barnstable High School baseball coach Jim McKeon.

Brewster Whitecaps – The Whitecaps play their home games at Stony Brook Field, located in Brewster, Massachusetts. The field is named after Stony Brook University which is the Whitecaps’ primary affiliate.

Orleans Firebirds – The Firebirds play their Home Games at Eldredge Park, located in Orleans, Massachusetts. The park is named after former Orleans Firebird and Major League baseball player Cecil Eldredge.

Chatham Anglers – The Anglers play their home games at Veterans Field, located in Chatham, Massachusetts. The field is named after the town’s Veterans Memorial Committee.

Cotuit Kettleers – The Kettleers play their home games at Lowell Park, located in Cotuit, Massachusetts. The park is named after former Cotuit Kettleer and Major League Baseball player Wade Boggs

Wareham Gatemen – The Gatemen play their home games at Spillane Field, located in Wareham, Massachusetts. The field is named after former Wareham Gatemen and major league baseball player Mike Spillane.

-The playoffs will begin on August 13th, and the Championship game will be held on August 25th.
