On Wednesday, the Dayton Dragons defeated the Lake County Captains 5-2. The Dragons got out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning. Center fielder Narciso Crook led off the game with a double and scored on a single by Left fielder Mitch Piatnik. Right fielder Jonell Jordan then hit a two-run home run his second of the season, to give the Dragons a 3-0 lead.

Starting pitcher Adrian Rodriguez pitched five innings and allowed two runs on four hits while striking out six to get the win and improve to 2-1 on the season. Tyler Mackenzie pitched two scoreless innings in relief and Jesse Stallings closed out the game with a scoreless ninth inning to earn his fourth save of the season.

On Tuesday, the Dayton Dragons scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Fort Wayne TinCaps 5-4.

The Dragons were behind 4-0 going into the bottom of the ninth. Fort Wayne reliever Brad Wieck got the first two batters out, but then things fell apart. Wieck walked Jhuandy Martinez and gave up a single to Narciso Crook. Albert Guerrero then tripled to drive in Martinez and Crook and make it 4-2.

After a fly out, Wieck walked Tyler Stephenson and Miguelangel Sierra to load the bases. Felix Perez then hit a grounder to first baseman Nate Easley, who bobbled it for an error that allowed Guerrero to score from third and tie the game at 4-4.

Finally, Montrell Marshall hit a walk-off single to left field to drive in Stephenson with the winning run

The Dayton Dragons defeated the Lake County Captains 5-2 on Saturday night at Classic Park. With the win, the Dragons improved to 19-15 on the season and remain in first place in the Midwest League East Division.

Right-hander Austin Orewiler (3-2, 3.38) picked up the victory for Dayton, allowing two runs on four hits over six innings of work. Orewiler also struck out seven batters and did not issue a walk.

The Dragons jumped out to an early lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Shed Long led off with a single, stole second base, and scored on Dipoto’s single to right field.Later in the inning, Reydel Medina singled and scored on Stowers’ double to right field to give Dayton a 2-0 lead.

After Lake County tied the game with two runs in the top of the third inning, Dayton answered with a run in the bottom half of the frame. Alec Keller led off with a double and scored whenJonathan Wilfong singled to left field to give Dayton a 3-2 lead.

The Dragons added insurance runs in both the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, Stowers tripled and scored on Luis Gonzalez’s sacrifice fly to extend Dayton’s lead to 4-2. In the eighth, Sheldon Neuse tripled and scored when Shed Long reached on an error by Lake County third baseman Willi Castro to make it 5-2 Dayton.

Dragons’ relievers Kevin Elder and Andrew Wright each worked a scoreless inning out of the bullpen to close out the game. Elder allowed one hit while Wright did not allow a hit while striking out one batter in his inning of work.
