Infielders

INFIELDERS (9):

* Chris Albright ’20 – A 5’10” switch-hitting middle infielder from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Albright was named to the All-Colonial League second team as a sophomore after batting .320 with 22 RBIs. He will again be counted on to be a key contributor in the middle of the diamond for the Red Devils

* Luke Babb ’21 – A 6’1” right-handed hitting first baseman/outfielder from Alexandria, Virginia, Babb provides power and versatility to the Dickinson lineup. As a freshman, he hit five home runs and drove in 19 while seeing time at both first base and in the outfield.

* Brendan Bevans ’19 – A 6’0” right-handed hitting infielder from Wayne, Pennsylvania, Bevans is a two-time All-Centennial Conference honoree. He was named to the second team as a junior after hitting .333 with three home runs and 22 RBIs. A veteran leader, he will again anchor the left side of the Dickinson infield.

* Jake Christensen ’22 – A 6’2” right-handed hitting infielder from Fairfax Station, Virginia, Christensen provides depth at both first base and in the infield. He saw limited action as a freshman but will be looked to for increased production this season.

* Ryan Johnson ’20 – A 5’10” right-handed hitting shortstop from Palo Alto California, Johnson is coming off an injury-plagued sophomore season in which he hit .235 with one home run and eight RBIs in limited action. A talented defender with a strong bat, Johnson will look to return to form this season and anchor the middle of the Dickinson infield.

Outfielders

Outfielders
The outfielders are the players who play in the outfield, in the area beyond the infield. The outfield is generally composed of left fielders center fielders, and right fielders. The outfielder’s main job is to catch any balls hit into the outfield, and to prevent any balls hit into the outfield from going over the fence.

Designated hitter
The designated hitter (DH) is a player who does not play in the field, but instead hits in place of one of the nine Defensive Players The DH is only used in American League games.

Pitchers

The Dickinson baseball team is made up of 19 talented student-athletes, hailing from eight different states. The team is led by Co-Captains and pitchers, Andrew Heller and Braden Stinar. Heller, from New Jersey, is a right-handed pitcher who has played an integral role in the team’s success over the past three seasons. Stinar, from Pennsylvania, is a left-handed pitcher who has been a key player for the Red Devils since his freshman year. Both Heller and Stinar are expected to have another strong season on the mound in 2020.

The rest of the pitching staff includes junior right-hander Chris Murphy, who hails from Massachusetts; sophomore right-hander Will Shaffer, from Maryland; freshman right-handers Michael DiMartino and Kevin Milano, both from New Jersey; freshman left-hander Nathanial Russell, from Virginia; and freshman right-hander Griffin Smith, from Pennsylvania.

Designated Hitters

-Sophomore Nick Cook is the primary designated hitter for Dickinson this season.
-Junior Ryan McGrath will also see some time at designated hitter
-Sophomore Brent Secrist and freshman Mattotherapy Giebitz will also be available to pinch hit as needed.

Utility Players

utility players can play multiple positions and are typically used as a pinch hitter or as a defensive replacement. These players are versatile and valuable to have on a team because they can fill in where needed.

Team Leaders

Dickinson College Baseball Team leaders for the 2017 season include:

Pitcher Michael goldblum, who played in all 16 games last season with a 4-2 record and one save. He had 46 strikeouts in 49.1 innings pitched

Catcher Hayes Keeney, who appeared in 38 games and batted .333 with four home runs and 26 RBIs.

Infielder Connor Wilson, who played in all 40 games and batted .338 with two Home Runs 28 RBIs and a team-high 10 stolen bases
