Jim Harbaugh’s College Career

Jim Harbaugh was born in Toledo, Ohio, on December 23, 1963. He is the son of Jacqueline M. and Jack Avon Harbaugh. His father was a longtime defensive coordinator for the Western Michigan University football team. His mother worked as a teacher. Jim Harbaugh played quarterback at Palo Alto High School in Palo Alto, California. He then went on to play quarterback at the University of Michigan from 1983 to 1986.

Harbaugh’s playing career

Jim Harbaugh played quarterback for the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens, and San Diego Chargers from 1987 to 2001. He started his career as a backup to Mike Ditka’s son, Mark. He became the starter in his second season with the Bears and led the team to a playoff appearance in his fourth and final season with the team. After being traded to the Colts, he was released after one season and then signed with the Ravens, where he served as a backup for two seasons. He finished his career as a member of the Chargers’ practice squad.

Harbaugh’s coaching career

Harbaugh has had a successful coaching career, starting as the head coach of the San Diego Toreros. He then went on to coach the Stanford Cardinal, and finally, the Michigan Wolverines. He has also been a successful NFL coach, leading the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance.

Harbaugh’s playing career

Harbaugh began his football career as a quarterback at Palo Alto High School in California. He then attended the University of Michigan, where he played for the Michigan Wolverines football team from 1983 to 1986. He was drafted in the first round by the Chicago Bears in the 1987 NFL Draft, and he played for the Bears from 1987 to 1993. He also played for the Indianapolis Colts (1994–1997) and the Baltimore Ravens (1998), before he retired from playing in 2001.

In 2002, Harbaugh returned to coaching, as an assistant coach for the Oakland Raiders. He then became head coach of the Stanford Cardinal football team in 2007, and he coached Stanford until 2010. In 2011, Harbaugh became the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers.

Harbaugh’s coaching career

Harbaugh began his coaching career in 1984 at Western Kentucky as a running backs coach. He then coached at more schools such as Stanford, the University of San Diego, and finally the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers. In 2011, he became the head coach of the 49ers. Although he never played in the NFL, his brother John Harbaugh is the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens.
