Duke Basketball freshman AJ Griffin is out for the season with a Knee Injury the team announced on Tuesday.
Griffin, a 6-foot-7 forward from Winston-Salem, North Carolina suffered the injury during practice on Monday. He will have surgery on his right knee and is expected to miss four to six months.
“We are all disappointed for AJ,” Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a statement. “He was just beginning to understand what it takes to be a college basketball player Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family as he begins the road to recovery.”
Griffin appeared in four games this season, averaging 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds in 4.8 minutes per game.

Griffin tore the ACL in his right knee in February of 2018 while playing for Ranney School in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. He originally committed to play at Rhode Island before flipping his commitment to Duke in October of 2018.
