Griffin, a 6-foot-7 forward from Winston-Salem, North Carolina suffered the injury during practice on Monday. He will have surgery on his right knee and is expected to miss four to six months.

“We are all disappointed for AJ,” Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a statement. “He was just beginning to understand what it takes to be a college basketball player Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family as he begins the road to recovery.”

Griffin appeared in four games this season, averaging 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds in 4.8 minutes per game.
