In front of Edquist and Swayman is a strong group of defenseman that includes captain Ian Shaw, Zach Whitecloud, Dane Birks, Sam Stevens, and Tyler Anderson. Shaw is entering his fourth season with Fargo and is one of the best defensemen in the league. He is a strong two-way player who can contribute offensively as well; he had 28 points (4G, 24A) last season. Whitecloud is another veteran defenseman who is entering his third season with Fargo. He is a steady presence on the blue line who also has offensive ability; he had 18 points (4G, 14A) last season. Birks (6’4″, 220 lbs), Stevens (6’2″, 205 lbs), and Anderson (6’3″, 220 lbs) are all big physical defensemen who are excellent shot blockers and provide a great deal of size and strength on the blue line
