The Fort Worth Cats: A history
The Fort Worth Cats are a professional baseball team based in Fort Worth Texas. They are members of the American Associations and play their home games at LaGrave Field. The Cats were founded in 2002 as an expansion team of the American Association.
Since their inception, the Cats have been one of the most successful teams in the league, winning five division titles and two league championships. However, they have never won the coveted Triple Crown which goes to the team with the best overall record in the regular season playoffs, and Championship Series

The home opener is Friday, April 5, against the Amarillo Sod Poodles The game starts at 7:05 p.m., and it’s sure to be a great night of baseball. Tickets start at $9 and are available online or at the stadium box office.
The Cats will be on the road for a six-game road trip from April 9-14, with games against the Tulsa Drillers, Oklahoma City Dodgers and Wichita Wind Surge
They’ll return home for a three-game series against the San Antonio Missions from April 16-18. The Friday game is Dollar Dogs Night, where hot dogs are just $1 all game long. On Saturday, there will be a post-game concert with country music artist Phil Vassar. And on Sunday, it’s Family Fun Day, where kids can run the bases after the game and there will be face painting and balloon artists in the concourse.
The Cats have another six-game road trip from April 23-28, with games against the Corpus Christi Hooks Midland RockHounds, and Frisco RoughRiders.
And they finish the month at home with a four-game series against the Amarillo Sod Poodles from April 30-May 3. It’s sure to be a exciting season of baseball, so don’t miss your chance to catch a game!

Ryan Garko: A former MLB player who spent time with the Cleveland Indians San Francisco Giants and Texas Rangers Garko was drafted by the Cats in 2002. He played for the team for two seasons before being called up to the majors.
Jason Jennings: A pitcher who played for several MLB teams over the course of his career, including the Colorado Rockies Houston Astros and Texas Rangers Jennings was drafted by the Cats in 2001 and spent two seasons with the team before making his Major League debut.
John Danks: A pitcher who currently plays for the Chicago White Sox Danks was drafted by the Cats in 2003 and spent one season with the team before being called up to the majors.
