They have won 6 district titles in the last 7 years and have made it to the PIAA state playoffs 8 times in school history. The Mustangs have developed many rivalries over the years with other teams in District 10, but none more so than with the General McLane Lancers and the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers.

The rivalry with General McLane can be traced back to 2007 when the two teams met in the District 10 Championship game The game went into Extra Innings and was ultimately won by Harborcreek on a walk-off home run This started a string of success for the Mustangs that would see them win 5 straight district titles. During that stretch, the two teams met 3 times in the district Championship game with Harborcreek coming out on top each time.

The most recent district title came in 2016 when the Mustangs defeated Mercyhurst Prep in the Championship game This was a rematch of sorts, as it was Mercyhurst Prep who ended Harborcreek’s 5-year run of district titles in 2015. The 2016 season also saw the Mustangs make it to the PIAA state playoffs for the first time since 2011. They would eventually lose to eventual state champion South Williamsport in the quarterfinals.

The 2017 season brought more success for Harborcreek as they once again made it to the District 10 Championship game this time losing to General McLane. The 2018 season marked another milestone for the program as they won their first ever PIAA state Playoff Game defeating Minersville 3-2 in extra innings They would eventually lose to eventual state champion Pittston Area in the quarterfinals.

The 2019 season saw Harborcreek return to the District 10 championship game where they once again lost to General McLane. This loss ended a string of 7 straight seasons where Harborcreek had made it to at least the semi-finals of the district tournament

Looking ahead to 2020, Harborcreek will once again be one of the favorites to win District 10 and make a run at a state title. The Mustangs will have a strong nucleus of seniors returning, led by pitcher Nate Orzechowski and infielder Matt Panek.

Harborcreek has won nine District 10 championships in the last eleven seasons, five Section titles, and made three State Tournament appearances.

The 2020 team will be led by a strong core of seniors that have been with the program since they were freshmen. They will look to build on the success of the past few years and take the next step as a team.

The Mustangs will have to replace some Key Players from last year’s team, but they have the talent and depth to do so. With a mix of experienced veterans and promising young players Harborcreek is primed for another successful season

Conclusion

It is evident that the Harborcreek Baseball Team has improved tremendously since last year. The team has made great strides in terms of their skills and their underdog status. Even though they have not won a championship yet, they have definitely become a force to be reckoned with in the league.
