How Many Antetokounmpo Brothers Are In The NBA?

The Antetokounmpo brothers are making a name for themselves in the NBA. But how many brothers are there in total?

The Antetokounmpo brothers

Greek Freak, previously known as Giannis Antetokounmpo, is an NBA player who was born in Athens, Greece. He is the oldest of three brothers who all play professional basketball. Thanasis Antetokounmpo, the middle child, plays for the New York Knicks while Kostas Antetokounmpo, the youngest, plays for the Dallas Mavericks.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo was born in Athens, Greece, on December 6, 1994. He is the oldest of four brothers. His parents, Veronica and Charles Antetokounmpo, are Nigerian immigrants who met while studying accounting in Athens. Giannis has two older sisters, Penelope and Alexandra, and one younger brother, Kostas.

Giannis began playing basketball at a young age and quickly developed into a star player. He entered the NBA Draft in 2013 and was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 15th overall pick. Giannis has since emerged as one of the best players in the NBA. He was named the league’s Most Valuable Player in 2019 and has led the Bucks to the playoffs each of the past five seasons.

Kostas Antetokounmpo was born on November 20, 1997, in Athens, Greece. He is the youngest of four brothers. Kostas followed in Giannis’ footsteps by also playing basketball at a young age. He played collegiately at the University of Dayton before declareing for the 2018 NBA Draft. Kostas was not drafted but he did sign with the Los Angeles Lakers as an undrafted free agent. He has played sparingly for the Lakers but did win an NBA Championship with them in 2020.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo was born on July 18, 1992, in Athens, Greece. He is two years older than Giannis and he also played basketball growing up. Thanasis took a different path than his brothers though as he elected to play professional football (soccer) instead of basketball. He spent several years playing for various clubs in Greece before finally breaking into basketball in 2013 when he signed with Filathlitikos B.C., a Greek second division team. Thanasis eventually made his way to the NBA G League (minor league) where he played for three different teams from 2014-2018 before finally getting his chance to play in the NBA with…you guessed it…the Milwaukee Bucks! Thanasis appeared in 17 games for Milwaukee during the 2018-19 season but he is currently not on an NBA roster
