Introduction
It’s that time of year again! The leaves are changing color, the air is getting colder and the Indiana Hoosiers are getting ready to tip-off their Basketball season
This year, the Hoosiers are looking to build on last year’s success. They finished the season with a record of 27-8 and made it to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament
This season, the Hoosiers are ranked No. 16 in the AP Preseason Poll and are projected to finish ninth in the Big Ten
Here are our crystal ball predictions for Indiana’s upcoming season
The Schedule
The 2019-2020 Indiana Basketball Schedule has been released, and there are some mouthwatering matchups on the slate. The season starts off with a bang, as the Hoosiers take on #3 Kansas in the Armed Forces Classic on November 5th. Indiana then has a tough road game atSETon November 12th, followed by a pair of home games against Eastern Illinois and UT Arlington. After that, it’s off to Evansville to take on the Purple Aces
The rest of November features a few more tune-up games against NJIT and Louisville, before Indiana opens up Big Ten play at Iowa on December 3rd. The Hoosiers then have a tough stretch of games against Michigan State Wisconsin, Maryland, and Penn State However, they will get a chance to catch their breath with a few easier games against Northwestern and Nebraska in late December.
Big Ten play always ramps up in the new year, and 2020 is no different. Indiana starts January off with a game at Ohio State followed by Rutgers at home. They then have four straight games against ranked opponents: #5 Michigan State at home, #24 Illinois on the road, #3 Maryland at home, and #17 Purdue on the road.
After that tough stretch, things lighten up a bit for the Hoosiers as they have winnable games against Minnesota, Northwestern, and Nebraska. They’ll need to be careful though as all three of those teams are improved from last season. The month of February ends with two tough games: #23 Iowa at home and #4 Michigan on the road.
March is when things really matter as teams battle for position in the NCAA Tournament Indiana will look to solidify their spot with wins over Rutgers (away), Wisconsin (home), Northwestern (away), and Maryland (home). The regular season ends with a game at Purdue on March 7th.
The conference tournament will be held in Indianapolis this year from March 11th-15th.
Assuming they can take care of business in the regular season and conference tournament Indiana should be looking at a top 4 seed come NCAA tournament time.
The Roster
The Indiana Hoosiers will have a strong team this season led by star players Romeo Langford and Juwan Morgan. The roster also includes a number of talented young players who will make an impact on the court. Here is a look at the Indiana Hoosiers’ roster for the upcoming season
Romeo Langford – A five-star recruit, Langford is one of the Top Players in the country. He’s a smooth scorer with a good outside shot. He’ll be a key player for the Hoosiers this season.
Juwan Morgan – A physical forward, Morgan is a matchup nightmare for opposing teams. He’s strong in the paint and can finish around the basket. He’s also a good rebounder and shot blocker.
Devonte Green – A sharp-shooting guard Green will provide some much-needed scoring punch for the Hoosiers. He’s a good three-point shooter and should see plenty of open looks playing alongside Langford and Morgan.
Justin Smith – A versatile forward, Smith is a good all-around player. He can score inside and out, and he’s an excellent rebounder. He’ll be asked to do a little bit of everything for the Hoosiers this season.
Aaron Henry – A three-star recruit, Henry is a long and athletic wing player. He’s raw offensively but has the potential to be a very good defender at the collegiate level.
The Coaching Staff
Indiana Basketball is off to a hot start this season, and the Coaching Staff is a big part of that success. Here are some predictions for how the season will play out for the Hoosiers’ coaching staff
--Head Coach Tom Crean will continue to lead the team to success, and they will make it to the NCAA tournament
--assistant coaches Steve Alford and Chuck Martin will help guide the team to victory, and they will be instrumental in helping the Hoosiers make it to the Sweet 16.
-Alford will be named the National Coach of the Year, and his name will be mentioned as a possible candidate for head coaching jobs at other schools.
-Martin will be promoted to head coach after Crean leaves Indiana, and he will lead the Hoosiers to a National Championship
The Fans
It’s that time of year again. The time when everyone becomes a “hoops expert” and makes predictions for the upcoming season We all love to do it, and with the season just around the corner, I’ve decided to join in on the fun. Here are my crystal ball predictions for the Indiana Hoosiers’ upcoming season
The first prediction I want to make is about the fans. I think this is going to be a big year for Indiana Basketball and the fans are going to be a big part of that. There are a lot of die-hard Hoosier fans out there, and I think they’re going to be out in full force this season. The students at Indiana University are some of the best in the country, and they’re going to be a big factor in making this a successful season
I also think we’re going to see a lot of new fans this year. With Indiana being one of the top teams in the country, there are going to be people from all over who want to watch them play. I think we’re going to see a lot of people at Assembly Hall who have never been there before, and that’s only going to add to the atmosphere.
The Media
The media has been relatively quiet on the Indiana Basketball front this offseason. National outlets have not been giving the Hoosiers much attention in their way-too-early predictions and power rankings Even locally, there has not been a ton of excitement or hype surrounding the team. This is likely due to the fact that Indiana does not have any true stars or household names on its roster. However, that does not mean that there are not talented players on the team who are capable of making noise come March. Here are a few predictions for how the Hoosiers will fare this season:
The Opposition
It’s that time of year again! The college basketball season is just around the corner, and that means it’s time to start thinking about who might come out on top. Here are some predictions for the Indiana Hoosiers’ opponents this season:
-The Kentucky Wildcats will be a force to be reckoned with, as always. They’re strong and experienced, and they always seem to find a way to win.
-The Duke Blue Devils are another team that should be near the top of the standings. They have a lot of talent and depth, and they always seem to be in the mix come March Madness
-The North Carolina Tar Heels are another team to watch out for. They have a lot of firepower, and they always seem to play their best when it matters most.
-The Lot Roziers will be a tough opponent for any team. They have size, strength, and athleticism, and they know how to use it.
The Predictions
As the college basketball season gets underway, we take a look at some of the top teams in the country and make some predictions for how they will fare.
The Indiana Hoosiers are currently ranked #3 in the nation and are one of the favorites to win the NCAA tournament They have a loaded roster that includes several NBA prospects such as guard Romeo Langford and forward Juwan Morgan. Langford is a projected lottery pick in next year’s NBA draft and Morgan is a potential first-round pick.
We predict that the Hoosiers will have a Successful Season and make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament They have the talent and depth to compete with any team in the country, and we believe they will be one of the final four teams standing at the end of the season.
The Conclusion
The Indiana Hoosiers are a basketball team that is known for their competitive play and their ability to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament They are a team that seems to always be in the mix, and this season is no different.
The Hoosiers are led by senior guard Robert Johnson, who is one of the best players in the country. He is a versatile player who can score, pass, and rebound at a high level. He should be in contention for Big Ten Player of the Year honors.
The rest of the starting lineup is filled out by Collin Hartman, Josh Newkirk, Juwan Morgan, and Thomas Bryant. All of these players are upperclassmen who have experience playing at a high level. They will need to be leaders on and off the court for this team to be successful.
The bench is relatively inexperienced, but there are some talented players that can make an impact. Devonte Green, De’Ron Davis, Freddie McSwain Jr., and Zach McRoberts will all need to step up and contribute if the Hoosiers want to make a run in March.
This Indiana team has the potential to be special. They have the talent and experience to make a deep run in the tournament, and they should be one of the teams to beat in the Big Ten
