2017-2018 Pre-Season and Non-Conference Games

The UNC P basketball team looks to continue their recent success this upcoming season The Tar Heels are coming off a 2017 season in which they went 29-7, won the ACC regular season title, and made it to the NCAA tournament Sweet Sixteen They will look to build on that success in the 2017-2018 season

The Tar Heels will begin their season with a game against Northern Iowa on November 10th. They will then have a string of games against mid-major opponents, including Bucknell, Davidson, and Belmont. Their first real test will come on December 4th when they play Ohio State in Columbus. The Buckeyes are a perennial power and this will be a tough road test for the Tar Heels

UNC P will then return home for a few games before beginning conference play Their first ACC game will be at home against Pittsburgh on December 30th. They will then go on the road to take on Syracuse and Notre Dame before returning home for a big matchup with Duke on January 13th. The Tar Heels will then have a stretch of games against some of the weaker teams in the ACC before finishing up their non-Conference Schedule with a game against East Tennessee State on February 3rd.

The Tar Heels should have no problem making the NCAA Tournament this season if they can finish near the top of the ACC standings. They have the talent and experience to make a deep run in March and could be national title contenders if everything comes together for them this season.

2017-2018 Schedule Analysis

The 2017-2018 UNC P Basketball Schedule is one of the most difficult in the country. The Tar Heels will face 10 teams that made the NCAA tournament last season, including five that made it to the Sweet 16 or further. In addition, UNC P will play in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge and the PK80 Invitational, two of the premier early season tournaments.

Despite the challenges, there are some opportunities for UNC P to make a statement early in the season. The Tar Heels will open against Northern Iowa, a team that made the second round of the NCAA tournament last year but lost its top two scorers from that team. UNC P will also have home games against Marquette and Oklahoma, two teams that were on the bubble for the NCAA tournament last year.

If UNC P can navigate its difficult schedule and make a run in one of its early season tournaments, it should be in good position to make a return trip to the NCAA Tournament
