After playing 108 games for Cleveland in which he batted .266 with 23 home runs and 63 RBIs, Puig was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 31, 2019. The Pirates then placed him on waivers August 16, 2019, where he was claimed by the Yankeess days later. However, on August 20th, 2019 – just 4 days after being claimed by New York – they released him. As of September 2019, he is a free agent who is not currently playing for any team.
