The Kentucky baseball team had an amazing season and made it to the playoffs. Here’s how they did it!
How the Kentucky Baseball Team Got Started
August 20, 2013 was a special day for baseball fans in Kentucky. On that day, the Kentucky baseball team played their first ever game. The team was formed just a few months earlier, in May 2013.
The Kentucky baseball team is part of the minor league system of the Cincinnati Reds one of the Major League Baseball teams. The Reds have a farm team that plays in Louisville, Kentucky, and it is from this team that the Kentucky Baseball Team got its start.
In order to form the Kentucky Baseball team the Reds had to find a new home for their Louisville farm team. They eventually settled on Bowling Green Kentucky, which is about an hour away from Louisville.
The decision to form the Kentucky baseball team was not an easy one for the Reds. There were many other options for where to place their Louisville farm team. But in the end, they decided that Bowling Green was the best option.
The main reason for this decision was because Bowling Green already had a minor League Baseball team: The Bowling Green Hot Rods. The Hot Rods are part of the Tampa Bay Rays organization and play in the Class A Midwest League. Class A is one level below Major League Baseball
The move to Bowling Green allowed the Reds to keep their Louisville farm team close by, while also giving them access to a larger market of potential fans. And so far, it seems to be working out well for both the Reds and The Hot Rods In just its first season, attendance at Hot Rods games increased by 33%.
