The Kentucky Wildcats overcame a 17-point deficit to defeat the South Carolina Gamecocks 81-78 on Saturday at Rupp Arena

It was the fifth consecutive win for Kentucky (19-5, 9-2 SEC), which remains in second place in the Conference Standings behind LSU.

South Carolina (11-13, 4-7 SEC) has now lost four of its last five games.

The Wildcats were led by sophomore guard Tyler Herro who scored a game-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field, including 6-of-9 from three-point range

Freshman forward PJ Washington added 17 points and 12 rebounds for Kentucky, while junior guard Quade Green had 11 points and seven assists.

For South Carolina senior guard Chris Silva scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while freshman forward A’ja Wilson had 20 points and eight rebounds.

With the win, Kentucky improves to 2-0 on the season while South Carolina falls to 0-2. The Wildcats will next take on Evansville on Friday while the Gamecocks will look to get their first win of the season against Charleston Southern
