Lampeter Strasburg Basketball: Conference Champions

The Lampeter Strasburg Varsity Basketball team won the Conference Championship on Saturday night, defeating rival Hempfield in a hard-fought game. It is the first time in school history that the boys’ team has won the conference title

The team was led by conference MVP senior guard Ryan Miller, who scored 27 points in the final game Hempfield had no answer for Miller, who was able to penetrate the lane at will and either score or dish off to open teammates.

The win was a total team effort, with every player contributing to the victory. The defense was especially stingy, holding Hempfield to just 40 points.

The team now turns its attention to the State Tournament where they will be looking to make a deep run. With Miller leading the way, anything is possible for this talented group of young men.

The Road to the Championship

The Lampeter Strasburg boys Basketball team won the Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Two title on Saturday, February 15th with a 54-47 victory over Manheim Township. The win marked the Pioneers’ first league title since 2013 and the sixth in school history.

Lampeter Strasburg entered the tournament as the number two seed behind Manheim Township. The Pioneers defeated Hempfield in the quarterfinals and Cocalico in the semifinals to set up the Championship game matchup against the top-seeded Blue Streaks.

In the Championship game Lampeter Strasburg jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, defeating Manheim Township 54-47 to claim the title. With the win, the Pioneers earned a spot in the District Three Class 5A tournament where they will face Muhlenberg on Tuesday, February 18th.

The Game That Secured the Title

On Friday Night the Lampeter Strasburg Pioneers battled the Hempfield Black Knights in a game that would determine who would take home the conference Championship Title The Pioneers were determined to make history and secure their spot at the top, and they did just that. With a final score of 56-41, the Pioneers are now the official conference champions.

This is an incredible accomplishment for the team, who have worked hard all season long Coach Mike Williams is extremely proud of his team and their success. “Our team really came together and played their best when it mattered most,” he said. “I’m so proud of them for fighting hard and coming out on top.”

The Pioneers will now move on to compete in the district tournament where they will face off against Donegal on Tuesday night.
