The Miaa Basketball power rankings are back for another season! Keep up with all the action as we rank the top teams in the state.

The top 25 teams in the Miaa

1. Topeka West (12-0) – The Chargers have been phenomenal this season. They are currently ranked No. 1 in 6A and are the only team in the state that is undefeated. They have big wins over Hayden, Highland Park, and Shawnee Heights.
2. Shawnee Mission East (11-1) – The Lancers are off to a great start this season. Their only loss came to Blue Valley Northwest, who is ranked No. 1 in 5A. They have wins over Washburn Rural, Wichita Southeast, St. Thomas Aquinas and Leavenworth.
3. Manhattan (11-1) – The Indians have also only lost to one team this season, which was Blue Valley West in their second game of the season. Since then, they have gone on a 10-game Winning Streak and have some impressive wins under their belt including a victory over previously ranked No. 2 Olathe East.

The most improved teams in the Miaa

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association recently released its basketball power rankings, and there are some notable changes from last season. Here are the three most improved teams in the MIAA:

1. Winchester HS
Winchester made a huge jump in the standings, going from unranked all the way up to No. 2 in the power rankings. The team is led by senior point guard Caroline Collins, who is averaging 18 points, five assists, and four steals per game.

2. Braintree HS
After a disappointing 2018-19 campaign, Braintree has bounced back in a big way and is now ranked fifth in the MIAA. The team is led by junior center Emma McCarthy, who is averaging 16 points and 10 rebounds per game

Westford rounds out the top three most improved teams, jumping from 14th to 11th in the power rankings. The team is led by senior guard Amelia Griffin, who is averaging 15 points per game

5. Manchester Essex: The Hornets have looked great so far, with big wins over Lynn Classical and Gloucester. They sit at 4-0 and are one of the top teams in the conference.

4. Winchester: The Sachems have yet to lose a game, with their only blemish being a tie against Woburn. They’ve been impressive so far and sit atop the Conference Standings

3. Franklin: The Panthers have looked great early on, with big wins over Mansfield and Oliver Ames They’re one of the Top Teams in the conference and should be in contention for a title all season long

2. Westford Academy: The Grey Ghosts have been one of the best teams in the state so far, with big wins over Acton-Boxborough and Lincoln-Sudbury. They sit at 4-0 and are one of the favorites to win the conference title

1. Methuen: The Rangers have been absolutely dominant so far, with big wins over Andover, North Andover and Haverhill. They’re one of the favorites to win the conference title and could be in contention for a state title as well.
