Pitcher Jimmy Johnson is the team’s ace. He has a fastball that reaches 100 miles per hour and he is considered one of the best young pitchers in baseball.

catcher Matt Wieters is one of the best defensive catchers in the game. He has a strong arm and is excellent at blocking balls in the dirt.

First baseman Chris Davis is one of the best power hitters in baseball. His batting average was over .300 last season, and he hit 46 home runs

Second baseman Brian Dozier is an excellent hitter and fielder. He had a batting average of .271 last season, and he stole 20 bases.

Third baseman Mike Moustakas is one of the best young hitters in baseball. He batted .272 last season with 36 home runs and 103 RBIs.

The heart of the team- the pitching staff

The Monroe baseball team is set to have another great season. They have a strong lineup full of talented players. But, the heart of any team is the pitching staff. Let’s take a look at the team’s top pitchers.

Tyler Wilson is the team’s ace and has been with the organization for 4 years. He has a career ERA of 3.15 and has been an All-Star twice. He will be the team’s Opening Day starter.

Joining him in the rotation is second-year player Luis Rodriguez Rodriguez had a great rookie season, posting a 2.92 ERA in 33 starts. He will look to build on that success in his second year with the team.

The team also has a pair of lefties in the rotation in Jameson Hairston and rookie phenom Christopher Johnson. Hairston has been with the team for 3 years and has been one of their most consistent pitchers, posting an ERA under 4 in each of his first three seasons.
