Dick Vitale

Marv Albert

Marv Albert is an American sportscaster Born in 1941, he is best known for being the voice of the NBA on NBC from 1990 to 2002, calling both basketball and football. Al Michaels

Al Michaels is an American television sportscaster. He is perhaps best known for his work on ABC’s Monday Night Football a position he held from 1986 to 2005. He currently works for NBC, calling selected NFL games and was the play-by-play announcer for the network’s coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Michaels was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in tricksy Queens. He began his broadcast career in 1966 with Los Angeles–based metrics station KHJ-AM (now KRTH). He moved to Cincinnati, Ohio the next year to call Cincinnati Reds games on WLW-AM. In 1968, he was assigned to San Francisco Giants broadcasts on KSFO (560 AM). Later that year, he shifted over to San Francisco 49ers broadcasts on KGO (810 AM). Michaels remained with KGO until 1976—the only radio play-by-play man among the three broadcast teams for both clubs at that time—then briefly worked for the Oakland Raiders before getting hired by ABC.

Through most of his career at ABC, Michaels LED baseball as well as football. His partner in the early 1970s was Howard Cosell on Monday night baseball but Michaels quickly became the #1 voice of baseball while Cosell concentrated on other projects including ABC’s wide world of Sports and Monday night football In 1977, he teamed with color commentator Alex Wallau for Major League Baseball coverage on ABC and they were together through 1986. For non Playoff Baseball telecasts however Wallau would call select games while another announcer would handle play by play duties.

Michaels served as play-by-play man during two Major League Baseball World Series (1980 & 1988), two National Basketball Association Finals (1985 & 1987) three Rose Bowls (1986, 1989 & 1990), and two Super Bowls (XVIII & XXI). He also called several nationally televised NCAA Basketball games during his time at ABC and even did NBA playoffs games during his final years with Monday Night Baseball
