Kyrie Irving apologizes to Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers
Kyrie Irving has issued a public apology to his former teammate Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers organization.
“I want to apologize to LeBron, to Danny Ainge to the Celtics organization, to all my teammates I played with this year,” Irving said. “I had an incredible year, obviously we had some ups and downs but I wish we could have finished it off.”
“It was an unbelievable year,” Irving continued. “I had a lot of fun, obviously there’s a lot of things I wish I could have done better but at the end of the day I made a decision that I wanted to come here and it didn’t work out.”
The All-Star guard was traded to the Boston Celtics in August 2017 in a blockbuster deal that sent All-Star forward Gordon Hayward to the Celtics as well.
The Houston Rockets are on the verge of acquiring Carmelo Anthony
The Houston Rockets are on the verge of acquiring Carmelo Anthony from the Oklahoma City Thunder according to multiple reports.
The Rockets would reportedly send center Steven Adams and guards Eric Gordon and Danuel House to the Thunder in exchange for Anthony, who is in the final year of his contract.
The 34-year-old Anthony is averaging a career-low 16.2 points per game this season. He has struggled since being traded to the Thunder last summer, averaging just 13.4 points in 29 games.
The Rockets are currently third in the Western Conference with a 32-12 record. They are seeking to add another scorer to their lineup to help take some of the pressure off superstar guard James Harden
Acquiring Anthony would likely mean coming off the bench for Houston, as he would be behind forwards P.J. Tucker and Luc Mbah a Moute in the rotation.
The Golden State Warriors sign DeMarcus Cousins
On Monday, the Golden State Warriors made a splash by signing All-Star Center Demarcus Cousins to a one-year, $5.3 million contract This move adds even more firepower to an already loaded Warriors team, and it will make them even tougher to beat in the NBA Finals
Cousins is coming off of a torn Achilles tendon, which he suffered in January of 2018. He was originally expected to miss the entire 18-19 season but he has been making good progress in his rehabilitation and he could potentially return to the court sometime in 2019.
This is a low-risk, high-reward move for the Warriors, as they will only be on the hook for $5 million if Cousins is unable to play next season. If he is able to return and play at even 75% of his All-Star level, then this will be a steal of a signing for Golden State
The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in trading for Kawhi Leonard
The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in trading for Kawhi Leonard according to a report from ESPN. The Lakers are reportedly willing to trade several young players and draft picks for the star forward.
The Lakers are not the only team interested in Leonard, as the San Antonio Spurs are also said to be interested in trading for him. The Spurs are reportedly asking for a high price, though, and it is unknown if the Lakers would be willing to meet that asking price.
Leonard is one of the best players in the NBA, and he would be a great addition to any team. He is a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-NBA First Team in 2016. He averaged 25.5 points per game last season while also averaging 5.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
