Introduction
Olympiakos is a perennially strong team in the Greek Basket League and one of the basketball powerhouses in Europe. The club has won the EuroLeague twice (in 2012 and 2013), and is the only Greek team to have done so. They have also won the Greek Basket League 29 times, the Greek Cup 27 times, and the Greek Super Cup 5 times.

History of the Olympiakos Basketball Club
Olympiakos Basketball Club also known simply as Olympiakos or by the nickname Thrylos (Greek: Θρύλος, lit. ‘Legend’), is the professional Basketball team of the major Greek multi-sports club Olympiacos CFP, and plays in the top-tier level Greek Basket League The parent athletic club was founded in 1925, making its basketball department one of the oldest in Greece.
Olympiakos has won 44 Greek Basket League titles, 30 Greek Cups, 7 EuroLeague Championships (2 under the EuroLeague Final Four format and 5 under its current playoff format), and 4 Triple Crowns. They are also one of only three clubs -the other two being Real Madrid and Žalgiris- to have never been relegated from Greece’s top-division basket league. Olympiakos is third most successful basketball team in European competitions (behind Real Madrid and Barcelona), with a total record of 99–62 (.615).

The Club’s Rivalries
Olympiacos B.C., also known simply as Olympiacos, Olympiacos Piraeus or with its full name as Olympiacos Syndesmos Filathlon Pireos is a Greek Professional Basketball club, part of the major multi-sport club Olympiacos CFP, based in Piraeus. The Basketball Club founded in 1931, soon became successful, winning the Greek League championship 13 times (3 consecutive times between 1947 and 1949), and the Greek Cup 9 times (2 consecutive times in 1992 and 1993). The team currently plays in the EuroLeague.
Olympiacos B.C. has long been one of the top performing teams in Greece both domestically and in European competitions. They have won 3 EuroLeague Championships (2013, 2014, 2015), 4 Saporta Cups (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000), 3 Triple Crowns (1997–98 Euroleague season 2013–14 EuroLeague season, 2014–15 EuroLeague season), 1 Intercontinental Cup (2012), 20 Greek League championships (most recently in 2016–17 season), 8 Greek Cups (most recently in 2017) and 5 Greek Super Cups (most recently in 2017).
The team’s home court is the Peace and Friendship Stadium which belongs to the Hellenic Amateur Athletic Association but it is used by Olympiacos B.C.. The club’s main rivals are Panathinaikos with whom they contest the Derby of the eternal enemies every year, while they also have a long-standing rivalry with fellow FPBPiredonio team AEK Athens.

The Club’s future is up in the air as the current president, Vangelis Marinakis, has said he will not stand for re-election when his term ends in 2020. This uncertain future has caused many players to leave the club, including captain Georgios Bartzokas, who left to join bitter rivals Panathinaikos.
