(1) Parkland vs. (4) Nazareth
This will be a rematch of last year’s semifinal, which Parkland won 5-4. This year’s game should be just as tightly contested, as both teams are loaded with Division I talent. Parkland has the edge on the mound, with ace Kevin Grossman leading the way. Nazareth will counter with sluggers Tom McCarthy and Mike Garzillo. The winner of this game will have a great shot at making the state final four.
(2) Cumberland Valley vs. (3) Hempfield
Cumberland Valley is one of the hottest teams in the state right now, having won 12 straight games. They’ll take on a Hempfield squad that is no stranger to winning postseason games. This should be a low-scoring affair, as both teams have strong pitching staffs. Cumberland Valley’s Matt Mathai and Hempfield’s Chris Domencic will be two of the best players on the field. The winner of this game will face either Parkland or Nazareth in the state semifinals.
